Dr. Patel, medical director of lung transplantation at VCU Health Hume-Lee Transplant Center, offers specialized transplant care for people coping with end stage lung disease, including cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary hypertension and sarcoidosis. His advice to patients? “Get a good understanding of your disease and know what your options are. You are the driver of your care.
