𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀! We were thrilled to welcome to the Veev digital manufacturing facility 𝟯𝟬 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗮𝘆𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼l, all participants in the 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (𝗥𝗢𝗣). The ROP program, offered through California’s public education system, provides technical job training to high school juniors, seniors, and adults, preparing them for the workforce with real-world skills. Students toured several companies as part of 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆 —and Veev was one of their stops! As they explored our advanced manufacturing systems, students were initially surprised by the idea of building homes in a factory, but quickly saw it as the future: 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿. All-electric homes are the future. Let me tell you why. In 2019, the city of Berkeley, CA made headlines when it voted to, essentially, ban natural gas stoves in new homes and buildings. The move was unprecedented. Even though that particular legislation is being stalled in court, it set off a wave of similar laws—and the electrification movement quickly took hold. In March, for example, the Bay Area’s regional air pollution regulator voted to phase out and eventually ban natural gas water heaters and furnaces in residential homes. Then, in May, the entire state of New York followed suit. Today, more than 100 cities across the U.S. have partial or outright bans on gas appliances. All of this happened in a matter of a few years. Soon enough, it will be the norm. And developers and builders need to prepare. Veev homes are all-electric—and always have been. Electric (induction) stoves, electric water heaters, electric HVACs. All powered by solar. My fellow founders and I made this decision, long before it became the trend, for a few clear reasons: • Electric is better for the environment. Burning gas emits pollutants like nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon monoxide that contribute to the warming of our planet. • Electric is better for our health. Pollutants like NO2 can cause or worsen respiratory illnesses. • Electric allows us to build efficiently. For example, we eliminate HVAC routing (which takes careful planning, extra time and specialized labor) in favor of individual in-wall electric units. Even though the industry is moving towards all-electric, some challenges remain. Consumers and builders worry about higher upfront costs of electric units, and the quality of electric appliances varies. At Veev, we eliminate those concerns by choosing electric components that are the absolute best on the market. At the same time, in-wall electric HVACs allow us to speed up our builds. That means we offer an experience that’s better for both people and the planet, at no cost premium. To learn about the impacts of recent natural gas bans on homebuilding—and how we incorporate electric appliances into every Veev home—read more here: https://lnkd.in/gF5a3jQ3 #Homebuilding #Innovation #Sustainability #Tech #ClimateChange
