This week, our school network celebrations to mark Hispanic Heritage Month included a unique opportunity for students in the K-6 School to learn from student mentors in our 7-12 School. The older students led workshops in classrooms for Grades 3 thru 6. The workshops included performing popular Hispanic dance styles, creating art murals inspired by the works of Diego Rivera, and playing the Mexican bingo-style card game Loteria. By serving K-12 students on one campus, we can inspire younger students through interactions with older role models. At the same time, our high school students develop leadership skills as teachers in the classroom. We are grateful and excited to be able to celebrate Hispanic culture in this powerful way!
