About us
The Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) exists to serve the 16 member-owned electric cooperatives in the three-state area. Thirteen co-ops in Virginia, two in Maryland and one in Delaware are members of the Association. Association member cooperatives serve more than 2 million people in the three states through more than 700,000 meters in Virginia, nearly 225,000 meters in Maryland and more than 100,000 meters in Delaware. The purpose of the Association is to provide services that can best be performed as a group effort on a state or regional basis. Activities generally fall into one of four work groups: the Communications and Public Relations Department; the Governmental Affairs Department; the Safety and Training Services Department and the Educational Services Department.

Congratulations to our latest graduating class from the Powerline Worker Pre-Apprenticeship Program — a collaboration among Wor-Wic Community College, Choptank Electric Cooperative and VMDAEC. Cohort No. 3 celebrated their completion of the 14-week program yesterday at the college and showcased their skills for family, friends and potential employers. The group also assisted students last week at the Association's #GirlPower camp. Thank you to all who came out to support this determined group of future linemen. They're ready to come to work! #Lineman #Linemen #Trades

Chainsaws were the theme today as Lineman Continuing Education entered Day 2 at the VMDAEC Training Center Palmyra campus. Following a presentation about chainsaw safety by Tom Hodges and Ricky Taylor with Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC, class moved outside for some hands-on activities. Brad Ashwell of Ashwell's Tree Service led linemen through a variety of exercises using chainsaws. This afternoon features grounding and Cadweld System training with Mark Pest and Jerry Aubin with nVent ERICO. #SafetyFirst #Lineman #Training
