Did you know that irregular sleep can raise your risk of diabetes? A study in Diabetes Care found that both too little and too much sleep are linked to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes. An hour less sleep than the recommended 7 hours per night increases diabetes risk by 9%. Plus, adults with more than an hour of sleep variation have a 34% higher risk. So, what’s the sweet spot? Aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night to minimize your risk. With the global number of diabetic patients projected to reach 592 million by 2035, it is essential that we find ways to improve our habits to mitigate the disease. We’ve included the link to the full article in the comment section below. #LiveLifeWithVitality #Diabetes #Prevention #Sleep

Ever wondered what a "winning mentality" looks like at work? It's all about mindset. Achieving your goals isn't just about personal success - it's about lifting your team up too. A Harvard Business Review Study found that companies promoting collaborative work environments are five times more likely to be high-performing. Company culture has consistently been proven to be an important indicator of employees' job satisfaction, as well as their productivity. In fact, happy workers are 13% more productive then their unhappy counterparts. By fostering a culture of collaboration and viewing obstacles as growth opportunities, everyone can reach their potential and inspire others too. After all, if there's one thing the Olympics teaches us, it's that going for gold is always a team effort. #LiveLifeWithVitality #Mindset #WorkCulture #WorkplaceWellness #Success

As the Paris Olympics wrap up, let’s talk about a key part of fitness: recovery. Recovery is essential in building a sustainable fitness routine. Without it, after a few weeks of hard training, it’s possible you might not see the improvements you hoped for. Recovery doesn’t mean lying on the couch doing nothing. While some days it means taking a day off training, other times it means doing a low intensity workout, stretching, or going for a nice long walk. It’s important to plan your training sessions and allow for “recovery weeks” with a lower workload to allow adaptations to take place, meaning you will feel stronger and fitter when you get going again after a few easy workout days. This way, you will maximise your progress, lower your risk of injury and overtraining, promote muscle growth, enhance your long-term performance, and protect your mental wellbeing. Need some recovery tips? Here are some to get you started: ·      Develop a training plan that gradually increases intensity and volume for 3-4 weeks, followed by an easier “recovery” week ·      Incorporate yoga, light stretching and low-intensity workouts into your workout routine ·      Add 5 to 10 minutes of foam rolling and stretching after workouts to clear lactic acid build-up ·      Ensure you fuel your body with nutritious, balanced meals, drink enough water, and get sufficient sleep to promote muscle repair and recovery Prioritising recovery allows you to take care of your mind and body, and achieve your fitness goals. #LiveLifeWithVitality #Recovery #Fitness #FitnessGoals #SelfCare #HealthyHabits

Looking to increase productivity at work? 👇 The solution might just be hybrid working! It's a form of flexible working where employees split their time between working from home and from the office, with set office days decided by your employer. 📅 At Vitality, our approach to hybrid working allows employees to split time between attending the office and working from home. We believe our approach achieves the best of both worlds: time together to connect, collaborate, create and learn – and more flexibility and choice for employees, where possible. Is this your sign to introduce hybrid working? Let us know your favourite way to work in the comments! 💬 #hybridworking #teamvitality #ourpeople

I spent the week with the Vitality UK team, a highlight of which was their Sales Conference, which celebrated the past year's successes while looking ahead to what’s needed for continued growth and innovation. The event was attended by over 350 of our people in Growth and Operations, Sales, Service, and Retentions, and featured presentations from inspiring internal and guest speakers. We are also celebrating 10 years of Vitality in the UK and it was a privilege and pleasure to see the impact the team has had since its launch: over 30 million gym visits completed, over 14 million beverages redeemed, and around 9.9 million cinema tickets received – all while making over 1.8 million members healthier.     Incredibly, however, neither Neville Koopowitz nor Stanley have aged a bit – must be the Vitality effect!
