Today was a busy and important day in the history of our company.    We announced that our new flagship SUV, the fully electric EX90, is ready and on the road. The first batch of EX90 cars are being shipped to our retailers in the US and Europe right now, and the first customers will get their cars before the end of this month. We will ramp up deliveries to more markets between the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2025.    We also revealed a new and improved Volvo XC90. Thanks to a broad suite of technology and design updates inside and out, our award-winning and best-selling hybrid SUV is now better than ever before. While a new, more contemporary exterior design reinforces the car’s confident look, the biggest news is inside, where a renewed interior enhances both practicality and user experience.    In addition, we announced that a new-generation user experience will be available in our new XC90 SUV, and in millions of other Volvo cars worldwide. Next year, around 2.5 million of our customers around the globe will receive an upgrade on their Volvo cars built as early as 2020 – all in line with our strategy to make our cars better over time with regular over-the-air software updates.  To top off the event, we offered those who stayed around until the end of the show a first look at our next fully electric model, the Volvo ES90...Finally, we slightly adjusted the timeline on some of our electrification and sustainability ambitions. Our commitment to full electrification and sustainability remains firm and industry-leading, but in light of changing market conditions and customer demands, we now aim for 90-100 per cent of our global sales to be electrified by 2030. 

Four Volvo car models have been named the Best vehicle and Top Pick in the annual 2024 Newsweek Autos Awards. Across all automakers, Volvo Cars had the most “Best” winners in the awards with XC60 for the Suburbanites and Single, Powerful Women categories and EX30 for the Urbanites category.   #EV #PHEV   https://lnkd.in/emhKEHzm #XC60 #PHEV #EX30

Happy #NationalInternDay to our 2024 VCUSA Summer Interns!    To celebrate National Intern Day, our interns took part in a tire-changing competition and scavenger hunt at our corporate headquarters in Mahwah, NJ, followed by an afternoon filled with games and treats.    This cohort has infused our brand with fresh ideas, new perspectives, and incredible energy. Today and every day, we recognize their valuable contributions and thank them for their hard work. We take pride in their achievements and look forward to their continued success.

Earlier this month we officially welcomed our 2024 cohort of interns to Volvo Car USA! Over 9 weeks, this talented group of 29 individuals will immerse themselves in all aspects of our company, with plenty of opportunities to learn, grow and collaborate across our region.  We’re looking forward to an exciting and enriching summer with our fantastic interns! #LifeatVolvoCars

This past weekend, our electrified future was on display for guests and EV owners at the Electrify Expo in Long Beach, CA. With over 30,000 attendees, consumers had the opportunity to test drive vehicles from our current PHEV & BEV lineup and received a sneak peak of our upcoming all electric models: the Volvo EX90 & Volvo EX30.    Our own Aleck Brownstein spoke at the Expo’s Industry Day about what luxury car buyers are looking for when it comes to buying an EV – and for Volvo that’s sustainability and convenience.    Finally, in support of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, our Volvo Car USA ambassadors collected donations from Electrify Expo attendees in exchange for a cup of ice cold lemonade, raising funds with all the proceeds going to ALSF. We’ve just started building our new, fully electric #VolvoEX90 SUV at our factory outside of Charleston, South Carolina – so it’s safe to say we’re in a celebratory mood this week! Our new flagship SUV is based on our next generation, born-electric EV technology base and represents a paradigm shift for our company.  Not only does the EX90 expand our portfolio of fully electric cars, but it’s also the first Volvo car powered by core computing technology – a technology that enables a new era of safety for our cars. It’s designed to be the safest Volvo car to date, with cutting-edge passive and active safety technology and software informed by a broad suite of sensors. We produce the EX90 at our plant in Charleston, South Carolina. In recent years, we have made extensive investments in the facility to renew and expand, and it also has a state-of-the-art battery pack production line. So, our US plant is well-prepared to take on this mission. It reflects our long-term commitment to South Carolina, and the United States, where Volvo Cars has operated for almost 70 years through a robust network of 281 dealerships across 47 states. The first customer deliveries of the EX90 are scheduled for the second half of this year.

Last month, employees at our Mahwah HQ were invited to take a “paws” from their workday to enjoy some quality time with onsite therapy dogs. Thanks to Creature Comfort Pet Therapy for bringing these furry friends by as part of our Mental Health Awareness Month activities. #LifeatVolvoCars 

This week employees from our Mahwah HQ had a chance to attend a Peloton Interactive Hip Hop Ride with Kendall Toole, Peloton Instructor and mental health advocate, as part of our Mental Health Awareness Month activities. After the live class at Peloton Studios in New York, the group talked mental health with a discussion with Christine D'Ercole, champion track cyclist and Peloton Senior Instructor.     Thanks to all who joined for this fun and sweaty afternoon!    #LifeatVolvoCars 

Last week, employees around the globe celebrated the 97th anniversary of Volvo Cars with our second annual Volvo Cars Day. Here in the U.S. at our Mahwah HQ, our employees celebrated our purpose and our people through a variety of activities including a values & culture fashion show, safety demonstrations, and interactive exhibits featuring our cars throughout the years - from one of our earliest heritage cars to our new fully electric SUVs, Volvo EX30 and EX90.   Here’s to many more years of innovation and safety for all.    #VolvoCarsDay #LifeatVolvoCars
