We close our October Mental Health & Wellbeing programming with a note of appreciation to our speakers. Susan Angel Miller, author and keynote speaker for programming on grief, resiliency and post-traumatic growth; Kara Hardin, Founder and CEO of The Practice Lab for programming on engaging meaningfully with suicide and Jenny Strom, Clinic Director and psychotherapist with the NORTH SHORE CENTER, LLC for programming on Emotional Intelligence and why it is important to personal and professional life.     Our efforts will continue throughout the year and we encourage everyone to prioritize their mental health and wellbeing and to look out for each other as well. #Together we are better. #MentalHealthMatters  

Our United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County Trivia Challenge was back this year. Anyone who donated at least $120 (in honor of our 120th Anniversary) could play. Four teams battled over Trivial Pursuit questions that were obscure, controversial, or according to the teams that didn't win, “too easy”. Congrats to this winning team of Steven Nelson, Jordyn Janikowski, Derek Waterstreet and Steven M. Szymanski. As part of von Briesen's #ProBonoWeek activities, yesterday we heard from Colleen Foley from Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee and Maggie Niebler-Brown from Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. Maggie and Colleen provided some great information on how to get involved during our Pro Bono Celebration lunch.  As we wrap up National Pro Bono Week, we hope you have been inspired to go further, do more or get started with your pro bono practice. For von Briesen, our more than 1,000 hours of pro bono service over the past year makes us very proud, but this week has shown us that we can do more. We are proud to support Best Buddies Wisconsin so they can keep supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Wisconsin. This week marks the 2024 National Celebration of Pro Bono. The American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service created #ProBonoWeek in 2009 to celebrate the pro bono work that volunteer lawyers and legal professionals do. We are deeply proud of von Briesen's commitment to pro bono service in our communities. As a firm, our pro bono work includes the #EvictionDefenseProject, Sojourner's VALT Program and many other volunteer legal clinics and non-profit organizations.
