It’s a new school year — and a new world of cellphone rules at Robinson Secondary, a public middle and high school in Fairfax County. The school is part of a pilot program testing out tougher restrictions on student cellphone use during the school day.

Alexandria residents gathered last Thursday to mark the 125th anniversary of the lynching of Benjamin Thomas, a Black teenager killed by a white mob in 1899 after his seven-year-old neighbor falsely claimed he had attempted to assault her.
