About us

Transforming lives and sharing God's love through sustainable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene in the places that need it most. Water for Good is a faith-based, non-profit organization committed to creating a future where no one dies from a preventable waterborne disease. In partnership with local churches and leaders, we help communities establish access to reliable water and critical sanitation and hygiene practices—ensuring sustainable change, empowered citizens, and healthy futures. Our work is crucial because the water crisis is unsustainable, impacting 703 million people who lack access to basic water services. Every two minutes, a child under the age of five dies from a preventable waterborne disease. When 1-in-12 people around the world lack reliable access to safe water and 1-in-5 lack access to a toilet, they also lack the opportunity to truly thrive. Women and children are particularly disadvantaged, often spending hours collecting water that may not even be safe to drink. It affects health, hinders education, perpetuates poverty, and deepens inequality. But together, we can be a source for change that ends the crisis so every child experiences safe water, a healthy community, and God's love.

Everything we do at Water for Good is driven by our faith. As a Christian organization, we are deeply committed to sharing God's love by bringing reliable water and improved sanitation and hygiene to those who need it most. We see our work as a tangible expression of our faith, rooted in the words of Matthew 25:35 that when we serve those who are thirsty, hungry, and oppressed, we are serving God himself. Our faith is not just an inspiration, it guides every decision we make. From how we operate to how we collaborate with communities, we aim to serve with humility, compassion, and excellence. For us, excellence is more than a standard, it's an act of worship. Our new brand may bring a fresh look, but our heart remains the same: to honor God by serving those in need and building lasting change in communities across the globe.

Safe, reliable water isn't just about meeting the needs for a day. It's about seeing communities transformed—for good. Reliable water, sanitation, and hygiene isn't just a source for new opportunities and healthy homes, it's fundamental for breaking barriers and helping communities flourish. It keeps children in school. It enables women to live more fully. It nourishes crops and livestock. It starts businesses. It creates new horizons. And, as communities thrive, local residents become leaders to ensure that progress continues. Water for Good is primarily made up of people local to the areas we serve, because we know they understand their communities best and are invested in giving everyone around them a healthy and bright future.

When safe, reliable water flows, healthy homes develop alongside it. Water for Good's second foundational commitment is providing families with the training, resources, and ongoing support they need for a healthy home. Healthy homes require more than access to a sustainable water source; they need community-wide adoption of sanitation and hygiene practices, too. Our unique model provides training to local individuals and churches who help transform their neighbors' households into healthy homes with basic education about sanitation and hygiene practices. These local leaders are vital to bringing health, dignity, and respect to each person in their community. Healthy homes allow people to truly thrive. And when people are thriving, new horizons come into view, too.

Life-giving water is always there – day after day, year after year. When water can be counted on, people can live differently. As we continue unveiling our new Water for Good branding, we want to share our core commitments, too. These are the foundations of our work that, alongside our faith, serve as the pillars that uphold everything we do and work to achieve. Our first commitment is to bring access to safe, reliable water. Statistically, every two minutes, a child under the age of five dies from a preventable waterborne disease. Water for Good works in communities with some of the highest risks of waterborne disease to combat this tragedy. We see a future where every person lives freely without the burden of spending arduous hours every day collecting water or suffering from preventable waterborne diseases. And we work every day to fulfill this promise of reliable, safe water for people in areas that need it most.

We've got some big news! As you know, Water For Good and Lifewater International have merged our strengths, expertise, and passion for transforming lives. After great consideration, we decided to keep the Water for Good name and today we are proud to unveil our new logo! Water for Good's new logo centers on a water drop – the core of all that we do. The green surrounding the water drop symbolizes our focus on sanitation and hygiene. This holistic icon represents all of WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), the work that drives us everyday. This look is more than just a new logo—it's a continued promise to the communities we serve and the supporters who make our work possible. Thank you for being part of this journey to end the water crisis for good!

Something exciting is coming soon! Water for Good merged with Lifewater International back in January of this year, and we've been working hard on creating a new, combined brand. Our leadership and staff have been diligent to respect the history of both organizations while thinking carefully and creatively about how to express our new brand. We plan to share this with you in the coming few weeks. Stay tuned! We hope you love it as much as we do. Fun Fact: We added a new color to the Water for Good branding. Can you guess what it is?

Meet Sinzo Dotto from the Mishepo village inTanzania. With guidance from WASH facilitator Suzana Joseph, Sinzo learned about sanitation and hygiene but faced economic challenges in implementing changes. Despite financial struggles, Sinzo's grandchild, Sindi, took on the task of cleaning the compound every morning, showcasing the power of education and community support. Suzana went above and beyond, rallying her community to provide the necessary help for constructing a latrine and installing water facilities. Thanks to their collective efforts, Sinzo's family, along with others, are on the path to healthier homes. Your support can help more families like Sinzo's. Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. – Matthew 6:20 Have you thought about giving a legacy gift? These gifts help those in need for years and years to come. Providing children in need with reliable water, healthy homes, and the love of Christ for years to come are some of the reasons people give to Water for Good. Legacy gifts to Water for Good also bring life-saving safe water and the good news of Jesus to those in need. And those gifts multiply, helping children receive an education and parents operate businesses. Plus, a planned gift has additional benefits, including: - Tax savings - Providing extra income to loved ones - Allows for increased giving capacity - Opportunities for memorial gifts If you have already included Water for Good in your will/estate plan and/ or would like to learn more, please email info@waterforgood.org.
