Clinton County completed a grant-funded project to implement energy efficiency upgrades at 11 county facilities. Wendel identified and implemented improvements that resulted in an annual savings of $120,000 and a reduction of over 275 metric tons of CO2 emissions. The implemented energy efficiency measures included upgrades to interior and exterior lighting systems, HVAC control upgrades, boiler replacements, infrared heater installations, and roof replacements.

#Congratulations to the team behind the Northwest Phase II Light Rail Extension project for being a finalist for the Engineering News-Record (ENR) Project of the Year! The multi-award-winning project extends the Valley Metro light rail line by 1.5 miles. Working as a sub-consultant Jacobs Engineering, Wendel was the designer for three stations along the new alignment, including the signature elevated station spanning Interstate 17. Wendel team members attended the Drive Electric Long Island EV Coalition meeting. Participants reviewed the state of EVs on Long Island, NY and set goals and strategies for 2025 to continue addressing the current and emerging barriers to EV and EV charging station adoption.

#ConstructionWatch: Construction continues at the Derry Fire Station in Derry, NH. The winter enclosure is complete over the west end of the building for exterior block and brick installation. The scaffolding is done on the east elevation and moving towards the south elevation now. When complete, the building will feature five apparatus bays, administrative offices, living quarters, training spaces, and an exercise room. Wendel’s Mitchell Associates Architects provided design services for the project, and Wendel Master Builder® is the Construction Manager. #FireStationFriday

#ConstructionWatch Phase 2 of the Lancaster Village Center project is underway! The mixed-use building in the heart of the Village of Lancaster will have restaurants and retail space on the first floor with 1 and 2-bedroom apartments on floors 2 and 3. The first-floor tenants are in the process of fitting out their spaces while the apartments are being insulated, and drywall is being installed. #procurementmonth

Wendel performed conceptual design services for Brush Mountain, a multi-generational community center in Orchard Park, NY. Our team was involved throughout the process, including extensive stakeholder outreach, building programming and design, site analysis, 3D modeling, construction documents, and construction management. We managed construction and performed commissioning on the mechanical and electrical systems for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the 60,000-square-foot community center, which consists of a gymnasium, full-service kitchen and dining room, several multi-purpose rooms, and an office area. #PortfolioDay #ProcurementMonth

Iroquois Drive, part of the Buffalo State University circulatory road system, acts as a cut-through on the Campus between Grant Street and Elmwood Avenue. Wendel’s evaluation of the existing street noted extensive failure of the existing subgrade, resulting in pavement deterioration. The University decided on full-depth reconstruction, the addition of a multi-use pedestrian pathway, and reconstructed sidewalks. The goal was to significantly enhance the northern boundary of the campus by establishing a sustainable, complete street that accommodated vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists while creating opportunities for passive recreation and integration into the evolving Scajaquada Expressway corridor.
