  • This week, Weyerhaeuser was again a proud sponsor of the International Mass Timber Conference in Portland, Oregon. Members of our team joined thousands of industry professionals from around the world to network, share and learn about the latest mass timber products, issues and trends. Among many highlights was the inclusion of our own Katie Cava, senior sustainability program manager, on a panel discussing how sustainable forest management and mass timber products together support the forest economy. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #MassTimber

  • Kenny Mealey’s passion for safety comes from his care for others. During his 30-year career at Weyerhaeuser, he has built deep friendships with his colleagues and their families, both at work and in the community. Those relationships provide daily motivation for him to continue strengthening the overall safety culture at our EWP plant in Buckhannon, West Virginia, where he serves as safety manager. In his role, Kenny is responsible for improving risk recognition and awareness, conducting audits, ensuring compliance and providing safety guidance at every step of our operations. “Kenny has been at the forefront of the Buckhannon mill’s safety culture journey,” says Brian Chaney, senior vice president of Wood Products. “His passion for safety and his genuine caring for the people there is unmatched.” Read more about Kenny’s commitment to safety, which earned him a 2024 Truly Great Award. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #MeetOurPeople

  • During his 50 years at Weyerhaeuser, Don Moore has seen a lot of changes, and perhaps the most important has been the transformation of the company’s safety culture. “When I started, there wasn’t the same safety focus we have today,” says Don, a land-use forester in De Queen, Arkansas. “We were just beginning to realize that not everyone knew how to recognize a hazard or what to do about it.” Don says many of those lessons were learned the hard way. He still gets emotional talking about the death of a coworker in a workplace accident during one of his first years with the company, and others who were lost during his first 25 years on the job. “As the years went by, all the extra attention on safety training and hazard recognition started to pay off,” Don says. “Over the last 25 years, no one close to me has died (on the job). That speaks volumes about where we were and what we’ve accomplished.” Read more about Don’s journey at Weyerhaeuser, which is still going strong even after 50 years. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #MeetOurPeople https://lnkd.in/gvePsp5H

As a fourth-generation Weyerhaeuser employee, Leta Smith is no stranger to seeing the Weyerhaeuser name at the top of a pay stub — at least one member of her family has been on the payroll for all but a few of our 125 years in business. “When I was hired on in 2004, I could tell this is where I was meant to be,” says Leta, a compensation program manager at our Seattle headquarters. “I remember sitting in our old headquarters in Federal Way, calling my grandpa to tell him I got hired. He was so proud. My grandma said he almost had tears in his eyes because he knew I’d be well taken care of and would have a good career with Weyerhaeuser.” More than 20 years into that career, Leta still keeps the gold-painted hard hat her grandfather wore while working at Weyerhaeuser on her desk, along with a photo of the two of them when she was a little girl. • Lana Bru, operations business analyst for our Distribution business, says she doesn’t remember what sparked her passion for vervet monkeys. But since her first visit to South Africa to volunteer with the Vervet Monkey Foundation in 2020, she's gone back six times to support the foundation's work, spending most of her time caring for orphaned babies. “I time my volunteer visits to be there during baby season, which typically falls between October and January,” Lana says. “The little vervet orphans are a lot like humans. They come in traumatized, and we have to stabilize them and teach them to drink milk out of a bottle before introducing them to a female so they can bond. I also work with adult monkeys that have been wrongly kept as pets to help integrate them back into a troop, which is a long and difficult process.” For her dedication to environmental stewardship, Lana was named one of our 2024 Volunteers of the Year. Learn more about Lana and her commitment to vervet monkeys. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #MeetOurPeople https://lnkd.in/gP5JMSgS

  • We were proud to host students from Central Louisiana Technical Community College’s Forest Technology program on a recent visit with our Winnfield silvicultural team. Team members Taylor Dykes, Mickey Green and Ashton Cruse facilitated the tour for the students, who are learning how to grow, protect and manage timber; operate and maintain forestry equipment; and handle the selection, grading, harvesting and marketing of raw materials for consumer products. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

At Weyerhaeuser, we are driven to help builders achieve their goals. That’s just one of the many reasons we integrate our sustainability value into everything we do – from the management of our forests to the sourcing of our fiber to the operation of our mills. Our approach ensures that our wood products qualify for credits under major green building standards and programs. We also provide software to help builders design projects efficiently, reducing waste and installation time on the job site. • We had a great time connecting with builders, designers and industry professionals at the International Builders’ Show this year. From live demonstrations to cutting-edge innovations, we highlighted how sustainable forestry and responsible sourcing are at the core of everything we do. Some booth highlights: SPOT, the Robotic Dog – Showing off how we use technology in our mills for precision and efficiency. Build Better, Faster – Demonstrating how NextPhase® Site Solutions minimizes jobsite labor and improves framing quality. The Weyerhaeuser Advantage – Showcasing how Trus Joist® products, powerful software and expert support can solve design and construction challenges. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to engage with our team, explore our innovations and learn how we’re helping build a sustainable future. We look forward to seeing you next year in Orlando! #Weyerhaeuser #TrusJoist #IBS2025

  • To celebrate 125 years since our founding, we're taking a look back at the major moments and milestones that shaped our history. Over the coming months, we'll be publishing photos of the innovations, events and decisions that defined each decade. Our first installment, spanning 1900-1910, captures early shots of our forest operations, the devastating Yacolt Burn in southwest Washington — and our early leadership in forest fire prevention that followed — our first sawmill in Everett, Wash., and more. Join us as we relive the journey. (Photos courtesy of the Forest History Society) #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #WY125
