Your customers forget everything you tell them. The Power of Simplicity in Communication In the realm of effective communication, the late great Herman Cain's philosophy of "brevity with substance" resonates deeply: - **Simplicity Wins**: Often, the simplest message is the most effective. It’s about being clear, concise, and then knowing when to stop. - **Avoid Overcomplication**: Whether it's persuading a toddler to eat or pitching a business idea, over-explaining can lead to confusion or distraction. - **The Exception**: However, there's a place for long-form content. When done well, it can be incredibly engaging. I've seen YouTube pre-rolls that captivated me beyond my original intent. - **Resonance Over Length**: The key isn't the length of your content but its quality and how well it connects with your audience. Enjoyed being on The Equipped Podcast with Lane Taylor! The Evolution of Advertising: A 20-Year Journey Reflecting on my two decades in advertising, the landscape has transformed drastically: - **From Billboards to Bytes**: It used to be about billboards and radio spots. Now, a Facebook ad can go live in 30 seconds! - **Ease vs. Effectiveness**: While it's easier than ever to create and launch ads, this ease can be deceptive. - **Understanding Your Audience**: The key isn't just in making ads look pretty. It's about comprehending where your audience is and how ready they are to receive your message. - **Wise Marketing**: Without this understanding, even the most visually appealing ads can end up being a waste of effort, time, and money. #AdvertisingEvolution #DigitalMarketing #AudienceUnderstanding

A great example of humor in advertising
An epic campaign to promote Australian Lamb claims that eating meat can bring together divided generations as they discover that they have more things in common than they realize. What do you think of the ad by The Monkeys? Read more here: https://adweek.it/3UcorgD

Are you missing the humour in advertising yet? Isn't it time for us all to remember that advertising can be entertaining as well as informative and effective? With the end of Covid, a new 'Humour' category at The Cannes Lions and a general growing sense of purpose fatigue it seems that fun advertising is making its return. According to BBDO Worldwide CEO Andrew Robertson: “You can have a very noble purpose and still talk about it in an amusing and entertaining way. One of the things you realize about humor is how effective it is at breaking down barriers, at creating some kind of connection with people that [enables] you to move your message across that open channel.” Is he right? Should brands and advertisers have fun with serious subjects? Is there anything you shouldn't joke about? #advertising #humour #marketing
After decades of consistent decline, humor in advertising is roaring back in 2024
