3 Companies Every Organization Should Know About to Support Their #WorkingMoms Seventeen years ago today, I became a #mom (HBD, Carter ❤️). And while becoming a parent was one of the most life-changing experiences, there was one thing that was even harder: figuring out how to stay in the workforce during the early years of parenting. When I went back to work: - I didn’t have company-provided leave. I was back after just 12 weeks. - There was nowhere to pump; the only option was the shared bathroom sitting on a toilet. - There was no flexibility in my schedule. - No one at work knew how to support me. It was, without a doubt, the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I cried every day. My marriage was strained, and I was barely surviving. Today, there are companies leading the way that would have changed everything for me back then. So, I want to take a moment to celebrate three companies that are changing the lives of #WorkingMoms: 1. Parentaly (Allison Whalen) 2. MilkMate (Patrice Hayden Meagher) 3. Sundays (Ashley Chang) If you are a #CPO, #CEO, Head of #HumanResources, or Head of #Benefits, you should know about these companies. #innovation #management #future Photo: in the hospital after having my first son

Adding a new tip to this list: Ashley Chang's Sundays, which pairs busy parents with an assistant. Not only does Sunday's execute the admin, they also help keep my husband and I both in the loop on what needs doing for our family. I want this for all my working parent friends.
I hate the all the admin around running a family. So I've looked for ways to systemize it to reduce my time spent, like I'd do with a business. A few things that have worked for me: 1. I don't go inside grocery stores. My biggest time saver. We do 3 things instead: - Online order from Aldi once/week. Lean heavily on "buy again" section so it's quick to order. Swing by for curbside pickup after school pickup. Curbside = easy & far cheaper than delivery. - Order online + delivery once/month from mainstream grocery store. We get paper products and other brand items we don't get from Aldi. This is our most expensive haul each month. (Aldi is a steal & how we keep our grocery bills reasonable.) - Meal kits from Home Chef every other week. We live in a small town, so easy healthy takeout is non-existent (biggest thing I miss about living in a city). We have tried many meal kits & this is our favorite. Easy to make + always tastes good: https://lnkd.in/eD2ATXuJ // 2. Babysitter every Sunday for 3 hours. Husband & I prep for work week and/or spend quality time. About 30% of Sundays, we're away or the babysitter is away so it doesn't happen. But having that default slot on our calendar means I don't have to try to find a sitter every week. // 3. Family finances all automated. Yes, auto bill pay. But this is more than that. We use Tiller to pull in everything & automatically create summaries of spending. (My husband is a Google Sheets expert.) Once/month, we easily review & adjust. More details: https://lnkd.in/e8TkXf_y // 4. Keep a small stash of kids birthday presents in our storage closet. Whenever there's a birthday party, we don't have to order a present or pick one up. We pick from the stash. As my son says, easy peasy. // 5. We don't own an iron. We don't buy or wear clothes that require ironing. It helps that we work from home and our hiking town is super casual. But I took this approach when I worked in an office, too. Simple rule that I love! // 6. My husband appointed himself CLO. Chief Laundry Officer. We both chip in, but he takes the lead. In other words, I don't run the household alone. My husband is also here juggling work and kids. // 7. Bi-weekly household meeting w/ husband. We save an hour on the calendar every other Fri to discuss family admin and divvy up tasks. We also create timelines for when we'll complete tasks, so we both know what to expect. Having that recurring meeting helps us share the load. // 8. Outsource low-hanging fruit. It's harder to find people to do jobs in a small town than it was in a city. But we pay others to do these time-consuming tasks: + House clean + Mow lawn in summer + Taxes annually That help adds up. // Reducing time spent on family admin helps me put more hours toward what I enjoy: + Growing biz They Got Acquired + Hiking daily + Time with kids & spouse + Volunteering in our trail community Anything you do to minimize chores that I should consider?

I have been able to double my output and productivity simply by utilizing my EA through Sundays for 5 hours a month. As a team of one, it felt very hard to decide to spend money on anything that wasn't a 'must have' tool. But ya'll, I found that Jessica George is my swiss army knife! Shame on me for not doing it sooner. I was expertly matched. Jessie does all the things that take me a million bijilion hours, completes them in like 1 hour and delivers with a smile. I can now continue to build my business with compounded strength. Thank you Sundays and Jessica George! 😘
