June saw intense legal battles over AI copyright and intellectual property rights, with Open AI and at least two other artificial intelligence companies accused of stealing copyrighted material and using it to train their large language models. The SEC took on “AI washing” in June, bringing a case against an individual for purportedly lying about how much their company’s AI could help clients find job candidates from different backgrounds to support DEI goals. “At the end of June, a 6-3 U.S. Supreme Court majority overruled the ‘dizzying breakdance’ and ‘decaying husk’ that was Chevron. Also in June, the Court resolved a circuit split about the standard that governs NLRB requests for Section 10(j) injunctions and it granted cert in a case questioning whether former employees can sue under the ADA regarding post-employment benefits.” Brandi Brown’s recap of the key developments in labor and employment law from the last month includes analysis of the Chevron ruling as well as Supreme Court decisions around Section 10(j) injunctions and ADA claims regarding post-employment benefits. Major banking & finance legal developments in June included not only the overturning of the Chevron doctrine but also several rulemakings from banking regulators. In addition, a significant development in the Flagstar Bank case saw the Supreme Court grant a petition for certiorari, vacating the judgment and remanding the case to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit for further consideration consistent with the high court’s recent decision in Cantero v. Bank of America. Banking and Finance Law Daily keeps you up to date on breaking banking and finance law news with a comprehensive daily report. The Supreme Court last month issued a historic series of rulings that could greatly reduce and limit the future power of federal regulators – a major setback for ESG and climate causes. Outside of the Supreme Court, ESG critics kept up an affront on Biden Administration policies through legal and legislative means in June. Despite setbacks, the Biden Administration remained committed to its climate agenda and opened up new funding dedicated to combat harmful methane gas emissions. Find Brad Rosen's full recap of the month’s developments here and never miss an update with ESG Daily – your source of concise daily updates on ESG legal and policy developments. https://lnkd.in/ezeD7ds9 #ClimateLitigation #ClimatePolicy #SCOTUS
