Nearly half of all woman over the age of 40 have dense breasts, which is normal, but can make it harder to spot cancers on mammograms. Recent FDA regulation requires patients be made aware if they have dense breasts, but what does that mean for patients? Regina Hooley, MD, breast radiologist at Smilow Cancer Hospital, and professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine, breaks it down for us. This Breast Cancer Awareness month, remember that regular screening for breast cancer can save lives: http://ynh.care/kw.

Exciting day for healthcare in Connecticut! Today, we broke ground on the Connecticut Proton Therapy Center in Wallingford—a partnership between Yale New Haven Health and Hartford HealthCare, in collaboration with Proton International, LLC , Yale Medicine, and Radiation Oncology Associates, PA. This 25,000-square-foot facility will offer advanced proton therapy, a cutting-edge cancer treatment that uses a targeted proton beam rather than traditional X-rays. With completion set for mid-2026 and the first patients expected by December 2026, this center will be a game-changer for cancer care in the region. We’re proud to lead the way in delivering patient-centric, breakthrough treatments that will improve outcomes and save lives.
