EU leaders and Institutions must advance the Clean Industrial Deal 🚨 As competitiveness takes centre stage at this week’s Council of the European Union meeting (20–21 March), we urge EU leaders and Institutions to take bold, decisive actions to implement the Clean Industrial Deal. Europe's industrial future depends on concrete steps that will lead the transition to climate neutrality while keeping Europe globally competitive🌍.   The new #Deloitte report translates the enabling conditions of the Antwerp Declaration into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure effective monitoring and progress towards implementing the Clean Industrial Deal.   European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said it best: “Only what gets measured gets done.” Now is the time for EU leaders and Institutions to act, ensuring accountability and tangible progress.   Read our full statement and find out more about the Antwerp Declaration Monitoring Framework 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ekxnPsbe #CleanIndustrialDeal #EUCompetitiveness #AntwerpDeclaration #DelivertheDeal

Much like humans, plants need the right mix of nutrients to grow, develop, and thrive to their fullest. 🌱✨     There are 17 crucial #nutrients for plants, each playing a unique role in their growth and development.     The primary nutrients – nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) – are the cornerstone, followed by secondary nutrients like calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulphur (S), along with other micronutrients.     Much like assembling a puzzle, these nutrients must be obtained from the environment and various sources for optimal growth. 🧩     Adding nutrients lost during harvest back into the soil keeps it fertile so it can produce healthy food. That’s why balanced #fertilization is key: it allows to bridge the gap between what the soil provides and what plants need, ensuring adequate supply of each nutrient at each stage of their growth. 💡      In fact, did you know that the essential nutrients provided by mineral fertilizers contribute to feeding around 50% of the world population, boosting crop yields and ensuring a reliable food supply.

✨Yara's Women in Agronomy program is making headlines globally!✨ At the start of the year, Women in Agronomy was nominated as "Initiative of the Year" from Women in Food and Agriculture for its impactful work on advancing gender equality in the industry. And now, we're thrilled to share Women in Agronomy has won the award! 🏆 The judges singled out the program for its effortless blend of education, networking, visibility, opportunities, and development of business skills, all while increasing female representation in the sector. They also highlighted that over 75% of participants applied newly acquired skills in their roles, proving the program’s measurable impact. 🎯   In addition to winning the "Initiative of the Year" award, Women in Agronomy was also shortlisted for the "Parity Award" from this year's World 50 Group Impact Awards due to the program's exceptional contributions to advancing gender equality in Yara and beyond. “Both of these nominations reflect the hard work and passion poured into the program. By providing mentorship opportunities, safe discussions for DEI, and recognizing women’s expertise, we’re seeing real change - one that finally acknowledges their contributions in an industry that hasn’t always done so,” says Program Manager Carolina Hernandez Lasso. We're proud to see the impact Women in Agronomy is making globally and congratulate everyone involved for making the program a success! Together, we're empowering women, creating opportunities, and transforming the industry! 👏 #WomenInAgronomy

  • Today’s broad support from EU Member States for the European Commission’s proposal marks a significant step in ensuring fair competition, reducing external dependencies, and protecting fertilizer production within the EU.   Introducing #tariffs on Russian #fertilizer imports will help create a level playing field for domestic producers, while reinforcing Europe’s strategic autonomy in the agricultural sector.   A robust domestic industry is vital for Europe’s food security and long-term #competitiveness.   We look forward to productive discussions with the European Parliament to finalize a framework that secures Europe’s future.

Exciting times at Yara Sluiskil (🇳🇱), as the Northern Pathfinder made a special stop at Yara International’s plant on its maiden voyage to Norway! 🚢 This vessel is one of four sister ships custom-designed to safely transport liquefied #CO2 as part of the groundbreaking partnership between Northern Lights JV and Yara International—the first-ever cross-border commercial agreement for Carbon Capture and Storage (#CCS) in operation. Through this partnership, 800,000 tons of CO2 from Yara Sluiskil’s ammonia production will be captured annually and transported for permanent storage 2.6 kilometers under the seabed in Norway. 🤝 Yara is leading the decarbonization in the chemical and fertilizer industry, setting new benchmarks low-carbon #ammonia and nitrogen #fertilizers production in Europe and paving the future of a resilient, low-carbon #hydrogeneconomy and agri-food value chain. We were honored to have institutional stakeholders join us at the event, including Martina Østerhus, Norway’s Deputy Ambassador to the Netherlands, Anders H. Eide and Jørn Gloslie, Norway’s ambassadors to the European Union and to Belgium, and Dr. Daniel Kitscha from DG CLIMA - European Commission.

It was a privilege to meet with Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribera alongside a delegation of industry leaders. 🤝 Our discussions focused on the bold and urgent actions needed to turn the Clean Industrial Deal into reality: ✅ Making the business case for a large number of clean industry investments. ✅ Tackling energy costs directly through revision of the State Aid guidelines for indirect ETS compensation for basic chemicals right now. ✅ The need for a broad chemical industry package and a chemical industry dialogue at the highest level. ✅ Ensuring the much-needed simplification measures for both large companies and SMEs become reality soon.   Thank you, Executive Vice-President Ribera, for the open and constructive dialogue. We stand ready to support you and fellow European decision makers in shaping actions that drive a competitive, sustainable, and resilient Europe. 🌍🌱🔄 ⏳The time to act is now – and we must get this right, together!   #DelivertheDeal #CleanIndustrialDeal #Competitiveness #IndustrialPolicy   European Commission, Katja Scharpwinkel (BASF SE), Marcel van Amerongen (Celanese), Julia S. • Geopolitical uncertainty is reshaping global markets, making Europe's industrial competitiveness more critical than ever. Securing affordable energy, enabling businesses to thrive, and strengthening our food system is key to long-term resilience.   In Antwerp, Yara’s CEO Svein Tore Holsether joined 400 business leaders and industry representatives - alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen - to discuss the recently published Clean Industrial Deal.   The message is clear: ambition alone is not enough. Turning commitments into action requires industry and policymakers to work together, to drive real change for a stronger, more competitive, and sustainable Europe.

Revolutionizing farming with just a few clicks? Let us explain. We've teamed up with Yara International to bring new tech to farming, especially for fertilizing. Take Georg Stiegler's 1,100ha farm in Saxony, Germany, for example. Georg uses Yara's Atfarm software, which is connected to the John Deere Operations Center™. This setup provides him with valuable information: - How much fertilizer is needed - How much fertilizer has been applied - The growth of his crops And the results are incredible! In 5 out of 6 fields where the software was used, he saw a boost in crop yields, with only one field showing a slight decrease. #JohnDeereEurope

  • Today, Europe faces massive challenges on competitiveness, decarbonization and security. These issues require in-depth discussions between researchers, industry, civil society and policymakers, and quality exchanges like the Ideas Lab organized by the CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) are key to driving real solutions.   As a leading fertilizer producer in the EU, Yara has been consistently decarbonizing fertilizer production. 📉   The EU Emission Trading System (#ETS) has made #decarbonization a viable business case, helping us cut GHG emissions by 57% since 2005, thanks to innovations like our patented catalyst technology.   However, "today the ETS alone is no longer sufficient to manage carbon pricing and balance costs without harming #competitiveness," explains Luc Haustermans, VP Corporate Affairs & Industry Relations at the CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) Ideas Lab.   Further decarbonization requires costly investments in carbon capture and storage (#CCS) and electrolyzers. That’s why CBAM is crucial to maintaining competitiveness in the internal market, but it also needs an export solution to support global decarbonization. 🌐   #Fertilizers are a global commodity, and our European sites export around 40% of their production, aligning with agricultural seasonality across hemispheres.   Thank you CEPS for organizing this insightful discussion!
