  • As Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) 2024 takes off, YCC Family Crisis Center is deeply aligned with this year's theme: "Heal, Hold & Center." Domestic violence does not discriminate—it crosses all boundaries of race, age, gender, and socioeconomic status. This reality underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach that heals the deep wounds of violence, holds space for survivors to reclaim their power, and centers the voices and experiences of those most marginalized. At YCC, we witness daily the strength and resilience of survivors, especially those who navigate the intersecting challenges of anti-Blackness and other forms of systemic oppression. We are committed to embracing the many cultural ways that healing can take place, whether through community support, creative expression, or the re-establishment of safe and nurturing environments. Our mission to end domestic violence is inherently tied to the pursuit of social justice. We firmly believe that there is no true justice for survivors without addressing the racial and social inequalities that perpetuate violence and oppression. This DVAM, we encourage our community, partners, and allies to support our efforts in making a difference for survivors. By standing with us, you help ensure that every survivor is seen, heard, and supported, contributing to a future where healing and justice are within reach for all. • October marks the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and at YCC Family Crisis Center, our mission is stronger than ever: to empower survivors of domestic violence and provide them with the resources they need to rebuild their lives. This month is about more than raising awareness—it’s about taking action and standing together to end the cycle of violence. At YCC, we offer a wide range of services designed to support survivors at every stage of their journey: 24/7 Crisis Hotline: Immediate support for those in crisis or needing guidance. Emergency Shelter: Safe, confidential housing for individuals and families escaping dangerous situations. Legal Advocacy: Assistance with protective orders, navigating the court system, and understanding legal rights. Case Management: Personalized support to help survivors access resources, housing, and employment opportunities. Therapy: Trauma-informed care to help survivors heal emotionally and mentally. Support Groups: Safe spaces for survivors to connect, share their stories, and find strength together. Each service is a lifeline for survivors, helping them regain their independence and rebuild their lives with dignity. But we can't do this alone. Please share this post, explore how you can get involved, and encourage those in need to reach out for support. #DVAM2024 #EndDomesticViolence #YCCFamilyCrisisCenter

  • YCC Family Crisis Center is proud to have our Housing Assistance Center Manager, Ian Williams, representing us at the 19th International Conference on Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma. This global event brings awareness to the tragic impact of shaken baby syndrome (SBS), a form of child abuse often linked to environments where domestic violence and sexual assault occur. There is a critical correlation between domestic violence and incidents of SBS, as the stress and instability caused by abusive environments can tragically escalate into violence against the most vulnerable. Babies and toddlers are especially vulnerable due to their fragility, making incidents like SBS more likely in households suffering from violence or high tension. At YCC, we are committed to breaking this cycle by supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our comprehensive services include emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and education. In addition to providing a safe space for survivors, we focus on addressing the root causes of domestic violence and helping families build healthier environments. Through prevention efforts, we aim to reduce the risk of child abuse and help prevent SBS. #EndDomesticViolence #ProtectOurChildren #YCCFamilyCrisisCenter

We celebrated the completions of this impactful project to the Weber/Morgan community with a ribbon cutting. Congrats to YCC Family Crisis Center on momentous day! This complex offers life changing space for those who need it. Transitional Housing provides a safe, supportive environment where residents can overcome the trauma of domestic violence, gain the skills and means to afford their own housing, and begin to rebuild their support network.
