Youth MOVE National amplifies youth voices to inform meaningful systems change and foster communities for youth by youth

About us

Youth MOVE (Motivating Others through Voices of Experience) National (YMN) has been envisioning a future in which young people are valued as empowered leaders, advocates, and designers of communities that are built for all youth to thrive, in various forms for over 20 years. At its core, YMN is a youth-led and driven, chapter-based, social justice non-profit, dedicated to improving the lives of youth and the organizations, services, and systems that impact them. Through leadership development, assessment, training, resources, technical assistance, peer support and more, YMN strives to create equitable partnerships that drive positive systems change and centers the needs of the BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth communities, and disabled youth, who are disproportionately affected by systematic harm and oppression. Youth MOVE National has over 50 chapters (local, state, and tribal) in almost every state and truly is youth-led and driven (our board is mandated to be 60% youth, including and the President of the organization).

In honor and celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day, Youth MOVE National offices are closed today. Indigenous Peoples' Day, which comes just before Native American Heritage Month in November, is all about learning (and unlearning), celebrating, and honoring Indigenous people, their history and their presence today, and their ancestral land in which we still occupy under settler colonialism. We encourage you to take action and have provided some actionable steps and resources you can use today! Youth Programs Specialist at Youth MOVE National

One thing about me, is I do be yapping about youth peer support. 🗣️💚 Last night, my cofacilitator, Huck and I took a break from training youth peer specialists and went back to the basics in our foundations of youth peer support presentation. In the presentation, we address what a youth peer support specialist is, the history behind the peer movement, and how to become a youth peer. Developing this training was one of the first projects I worked on when joining Youth MOVE National and I am so happy that individuals across the country continue to feel inspired to get involved with youth peer support. To learn more about this training or any of the other trainings we offer go to YouthMOVENational.org

Today, join Youth MOVE National for some 'tea' 🍵 - Introducing Hot Tea with Tay! A blog series dedicated to the unfiltered views and experiences of YMN’s Executive Director, Arc Telos “Tay” Saint Amour (they/them). At times funny, other times angry, no matter what the subject they are musing over, you can be assured hot tea will be spilled. Over the next few weeks, Tay will be sharing some of their personal thoughts, reflections, and stories from the road for our first segment of Hot Tea with Tay – No, I will not be attending, or submitting a proposal for your expensive conference several states away that has massive entrance fees and travel expenses, that is almost assured not to be a safe space for a disabled, gender non-conforming, queer and trans person of color. Check out the first segment >> https://buff.ly/3N8QTLr

Today we are thrilled to share a new blog post, written by Jasmine Boatwright (she/her), Frustration to Leadership: My Journey as a Youth Advocate. We are honored to share her voice and story with you all. "Imagine being 14 years old, screaming in frustration at the top of your lungs in your bedroom. Feeling alone, misunderstood, and overlooked—that was me. I remember being tired of everything, and because I was the youngest, it felt like nobody cared."
