Today ,in partnership with Siasa Place we held a sports dialogue with the youths of Bushiri, Ingotse Matiha ward, Navakholo Sub county in commemoration of the #InternationalDayofDemocracy The conversation ranged from how youths can be involved in Governance and politics to spur democracy and good governance. The discussion has indicated that the youths expect a lot from their leaders and they are ready to take leadership roles. On the sidelines ,we have identified issues at the Bushili Health Centre including, -Persistent drug stock out that affects service delivery. - A broken ceiling that poses a risk to the patients and hygiene of the hospital. -The servant quarters houses in a deplorable state We have also identified the wooden Mukwava bridge that is a risk hazard for residents of makhumbi and Elwali village including school going children. We shall follow up with the duty bearers on the afro mentioned projects as well as other issues that were raised. #InternationalDemocracyDay #siasazademokrasia Siasa Place Conrad Keya Keith A. Terah

Celebrating #InternationalYouthDay2024 Today, we joined countless youth across the globe in marking #InternationalYouthDay2024 a day that reminds us of the incredible power youth hold in shaping our world. This year's theme, "From Clicks to Progress" resonates deeply with the need for our generation to transform digital knowledge into tangible innovations that drive the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The digital age offers unprecedented opportunities for us to not only engage with global challenges but to lead the charge in solving them. Let's leverage our digital expertise to create real-world impact and forge a better future for all. We are grateful to Centre for Multiparty Democracy Kenya for their cordination and leading the way to make the day an eventful and such a learning session. So ,all of us have heard about Gen Z , also known as Generation Z, so who are these guys, These are individuals born roughly between the late 1990s and the early 2010s. Their characteristics often include being tech-savvy, socially conscious, independent, and diverse. They're known for valuing authenticity, preferring digital communication, and having a strong entrepreneurial spirit. According to Project Ether, a report published in April 2024 by Siasa Place (https://lnkd.in/dm93zU4U) This category of youths identified lack of access to connectivity ( electricity and Internet),Taxation of gig work and access to capital to start business as some of the main challenges they face in pursuit for meaningful work. These are issues that directly point to the governance systems, both at the county and national government. But ,how well do they understand the governance system in Kenya and how well do they understand devolution. That's what Kakamega Youth Assembly an Initiative of Youth Driven Solutions To Accountable Governance(YSAG) Kenya seeks to understand.Tomorrow at 8-9pm we listen in to the conversation of GenZs via X Space, led by one of their own Dion Wandera, Youth Assembly Member from Mumias East , constituency.
