Maker of the world's 1st genetically engineered probiotic.

About us

Zack Abbott, PhD microbiologist, founded ZBiotics because of the potential genetically engineered probiotics have to improve daily living. Our first product is a probiotic that helps you feel better the day after drinking alcohol. ZBiotics is leveraging its patented technology to create a whole new category of products that help our bodies deal with whatever modern life throws our way. It’s genetic engineering as it should be: transparent, responsible, and people first.

At ZBiotics, we care deeply about inclusion not only in our own workplace, but as a part of the people we partner with. One of our key Supply Chain partners that exemplifies this value is Beacon Group. Beacon Group provides real job training and employment opportunities to people with disabilities. Beacon is one of the largest employers of people with disabilities in Arizona and they currently serve more than 2,200 people with disabilities each year. Beacon believes that the choice to work is essential in supporting the voices of people with disabilities and their choice to lead self-directed lives. Beacon offers programs and opportunities so people with disabilities can work and maintain employment. Beacon Groups helps people experience the satisfaction of achievement, contribution, and earning a paycheck. Nearly two-thirds of working-age people with disabilities do not have a job. By partnering with Beacon and providing more jobs, we aim to support them in positively changing that statistic. “Beacon Group is proud to partner with ZBiotics to create jobs for people with disabilities,” says Mitchell Eskritt, Director of Marketing and Development. “When businesses commit to an inclusive work environment, they can unlock unique benefits such as better morale, reduced turnover, and an improved bottom line.” Thank you Beacon for all that you do for ZBiotics and letting us contribute to your mission.

What comes to mind when you think of genetic engineering? Our CEO & co-founder, Zack Abbott, is striving to lead a session at SXSW that delves into the fascinating world of GMOs. We'd love your support in bringing this panel to life by voting for Zack to be a panelist. In our proposed session, you'll learn how bacteria can be engineered as precise ingredients to tackle modern health challenges. We'll also debunk myths about consumer perceptions and emphasize the importance of responsible innovation. Vote here: https://lnkd.in/gn6cJYXp

What a fantastic week at our company retreat in Santa Rosa, California! We listened to inspiring presentations from our colleagues, engaged in team-building activities, and got to know each other on a deeper level over great food and drinks (and ZBiotics Pre-Alcohol, of course). It was a valuable opportunity to connect in person, reflect on our goals, and discuss the exciting future of our company. We’re thrilled to have welcomed our new hires and are excited about the journey ahead as we continue to pioneer the genetically engineered probiotic industry.

At ZBiotics, we're proud to recognize our Director of Quality, Savannah Hagenbaugh. Savannah recently used the company's annual non-profit stipend to donate to a worthy organization of her choice. “This is a local (to me) organization supporting grieving parents of newborns and infants. In 2022, my sister lost her newborn in utero during delivery. Forget-Me-Not Baskets provided some really amazing gifts and support that helped her and her family manage. Forget-Me-Not Baskets provides bereavement items to families who have experienced a loss during pregnancy or childbirth. Bereavement items include some of the following, grief books, remembrance items and comfort items. They have donated over 11,000 baskets to over 76 hospitals and obstetric offices nationwide, while concentrating mostly in Ohio.” Savannah’s sister, Tina Kittle, reflects, “On October 11th, 2022 our family received our first Forget Me Not Basket due to the loss of our son who was born sleeping at 37 weeks. At that time, we had no idea how important a "box" could be to us. But that "box" was so much more than we could have ever imagined. Our box included a certificate of birth to fill out, something our son wouldn't receive due to not being alive when he was born. One of my favorite items we received was a stuffed animal of an elephant. Forget Me Not Baskets chose an elephant as their symbol because research shows that elephants never forget. It has been said that when an elephant walks past a place where a loved one passed away, they will stop and pause in silence, for several minutes, and they too weep and grieve. And to this day, I will never look at elephants without thinking about Forget Me Not Baskets. Over the last two years, Forget Me Not Baskets has become a huge part of our lives. They are more than just an organization to us, they are our friends. Friends who have felt our loss and grieved with us. On July 27th Forget Me Not Baskets will host a 5K race called The Elephant Run in honor of all the babies lost too soon. We will be racing in honor of our son, Noah Weston Kittle. We'd love for you to consider donating to support this wonderful organization. Every dollar donated to Forget Me Not Baskets goes back to support another family who will be faced with these devastating circumstances. While this is not a journey I would have willingly chosen for myself, I am forever thankful for it as I know Noah's love still continues to shine with the lives he has and will continue to impact.” https://lnkd.in/gfZ2zEE https://lnkd.in/gKjp-qNs

Two of our key values as a company are humanity and citizenship. As part of this, ZBiotics employees are given an annual stipend of $300 to donate to a non-profit organization of their choice. This is an opportunity for ZBioneers to support and highlight causes they care about. Today we are highlighting Marketing Operations Associate, Rob Ryan's donation to Nourishing Hope. “Nourishing Hope is a food pantry that also offers mental health and social services to the northside of Chicago. My experience with the organization has been as a volunteer delivering food once a month to elderly, disabled, and homebound neighbors who cannot physically make it into their local pantry. I chose this non-profit organization for my charitable stipend spend because I know their work directly helps those in my local community. I think making the world a better place can and should start right in our own backyards and Nourishing Hope is an organization that does exactly that right here within Chicago, where I have lived for over a decade. I've come to call Chicago my home and it's important to me that I give back to a place that has been so important to me over the years. At first, when my friend Jay asked if I wanted to join him in volunteering for Nourishing Hope delivering food, I was a tad hesitant. I had never done anything like that before and the thought of going to strangers' homes was, in a way, frightening. "How will people greet us?", I wondered. However, every single person we met throughout our time as volunteers was incredibly kind and immensely thankful. I've never gotten tired of that warm feeling I get when wishing someone a great weekend after delivering their food and seeing a smile on their face when they wish me the same.” https://lnkd.in/gUXnDcWN https://lnkd.in/gWEnP-RS
