We were thrilled to partner with Mothers' Milk Bank California to host the first known organized Milk Drive in San Francisco today. So far, we collected more than 1,500 oz of milk – and counting! Just two tablespoons of human milk can help a baby in need thrive and just one quarter of an ounce amounts to one feeding in the NICU. This milk will go to babies and family across the nation.     We are grateful to all the donors who participated and those who stopped by to ask questions or to share their support in providing equitable care for all. Shout out to our Labor and Delivery team for their leadership! Happy 20th Anniversary to our AVON Breast Center!  Today, we celebrated this milestone in the beautiful, patient-centered facility, bringing together current and former staff, along with leaders from San Francisco Department of Public Health, University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine and San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. We are extremely proud and grateful to the staff who perform as many as 10,000 exams including breast imaging, evaluation, and treatment, and much more, every year.  We look forward to serving the community for another 20 years, and more!

Thank you to California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) for recognizing our Labor and Delivery's team with the Superstar Award and the Quality & Sustainability Award. Through ZSFG’s participation with the CMQCC, we contribute to perinatal performance metrics and quality improvement insights which leads to improved health for the birthing people, the more than 1,000 babies born at ZSFG annually, and families everywhere! We are one of 200+ hospitals participating, which represents 95% of all births in California alone. We are committed to the highest standard of care to all, including our community’s older adults. Our emergency department has achieved the bronze standard – Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) accreditation from American College of Emergency Physicians.  GEDA recognizes emergency departments that provide excellent care for older adults and this accreditation signals to the public that we are "focused on the highest standards of care for our communities' older adults." We are proud of our Age Friendly Emergency Department team and the care they provide to the community everyday.  Special thanks to the team of doctors, nurses, social workers and administrators for shepherding this important work. Thank you Supervisor Rafael Mandelman and City and County of San Francisco Board of Supervisors for recognizing our amazing CEO – Dr. Susan Ehrlich today. The Special Commendation recognizes Dr. Ehrlich for her leadership at ZSFG, the only Level 1 Trauma Center in SF that has withstood plagues, epidemics, pandemics and disasters large and small. Supervisor Mandelman shared, “Dr. Ehrlich influences, mentors and inspires future generations as a professor of medicine at UCSF.” We are proud to have Dr. Susan Ehrlich as our hospital’s CEO and as a care provider to our community as she reminds everyone, “We are here for everyone in SF.
