Area AV Manager

We’re seeking an Area AV Manager to join our Technology team. The Area AV Manager will report directly to the Regional Vice President of Operations as well as the Senior Director of AV. This is an onsite position with the occasional opportunity to work remotely.

What You’ll Do

The Area AV Manager will provide oversight of all services used to deliver technology to our customers and associates including networking, desktop support, audio, video, HSIA, audio & video conferencing, webcasting, and lighting for different types of meetings and events. The Area AV Manager works closely with the teams to deliver an excellent meeting, conference, and working experience.

The Area AV Manager oversees Technology Managers and AV Supervisors in supporting/executing customer needs and helps manage, train, and lead the teams in personal, technical, and career development/training. The person in this role also works directly with the sales and event teams to deliver excellent client experiences.

The Area AV Manager Is Responsible For

  • Day-to-day management of the AV Technology Management teams in the Region
  • Management/troubleshooting of AV equipment, including but not limited to audio, video, lighting, computer networking systems, and hardware both in-house and client systems
  • Preprogram coordination for large events in tandem with the property teams
  • Main point of escalation for onsite teams.
  • Ensure that booking guidelines are followed and that all leaders are maximizing space and revenue through audits and the weekly program execution order meetings
  • Provide genuine anticipatory customer service by establishing good working relationships with Convene team members, divisions, and vendors
  • Attend PEO, Pre-Con, and pre-production meetings as needed
  • Manage week-to-week property operations and oversee scheduling and coordination of on-property team members.
  • Work with the AV Technology Managers to maximize talent and utilize scheduling best practices.
  • Delegate tasks to the onsite Operations team as needed
  • Cross-train in other functions as needed.
  • Assist with developing a healthy employee relations climate, including employee motivation and coaching across multiple properties.
  • Participate in collaborative project efforts with both the technology team and other departments.
  • Interview and hire prospective candidates for all positions in the department using targeted selection. Primary point of contact for onboarding and training of new hires in the region ensuring all required certifications are completed.
  • Stay current on industry trends in special events/meetings through benchmarking, trade publications, competitive shopping, and special event conferences.
  • Review all departmental SOPs quarterly and update them as needed.

Reporting

  • Completion of weekly/monthly status reports.
  • Validation of financial reports
  • Collaborate on capital projects and purchases
  • Support of budgetary initiatives and workflows for properties within region
  • Maintain and uphold Convene’s cultural standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Show initiative and drive to solve problems.
  • Portray a polished, professional image according to Convene dress code standards.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 6+ years’ of progressive IT and AV experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in managing IT and AV equipment with live events
  • Knowledge of computer networking/maintenance and software systems
  • 4+ years’ experience leading team members
  • Hospitality and customer service experience required

Base Salary

Salary Min: $100,000 Salary Max: $110,000

This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
