We are looking for an insurance experienced Assistant Financial Controller here at INSHUR; based remotely or in our New York or Dallas offices. You'll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories including the UK, US and the Netherlands.

Supported by (and reporting to) the Group Financial Controller, you'll be joining a friendly team of 12 who believe in the mission of using technology and automation to establish processes and systems to improve the accuracy of the accounting and reporting functions.

What You'll Do

As our insurance experienced Assistant Controller you will be responsible for managing all accounting operations and preparation of financial statements of our United States entities in accordance with GAAP. Your responsibilities include:

  • Accounting & Financial Reporting: Leading all aspects of accounting and financial reporting and the monthly close process with full responsibility for timeliness and accuracy
  • Financial Compliance & Reporting: Leading the preparation of accurate and high-quality financial reports in compliance with US GAAP, bank/regulatory reporting, and management reporting and analysis
  • Complex Accounting: Having direct responsibility for accounting of complex accounting and disclosure areas, such as consolidation, revenue recognition, reserves, accruals, and other disclosures
  • External Audit: Assisting with the Inshur Holdings Group external audit
  • Technical Accounting: Researching and analysing technical accounting issues as needed
  • People Management: Supervising a team within the Finance group
  • M&A Integration: Experience integrating acquired companies into existing accounting practices
  • Internal Controls: Designing, implementing and maintaining effective internal controls. Identifying and remediating internal control weaknesses

  • Insurance Savvy: experienced in the insurance industry and ideally a background in startup environments, bringing a unique blend of knowledge and innovation
  • Senior Accounting Expert: Proven experience at a senior accounting level, demonstrating leadership and financial acumen
  • Certified Financial Professional: Qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), equipped with top-tier credentials to drive financial excellence
  • Distributed Team Leadership Pro: Demonstrated management experience in leading high-performing teams to achieve outstanding results
  • Finance Operations Innovator: Expertise in streamlining and automating finance operations for enhanced efficiency and productivity
  • Creative Problem-Solver: Innovative thinker with a knack for recommending unique solutions to tackle complex financial challenges
  • Audit & Compliance Specialist: Ideally possesses a background in audit or compliance within a public accounting firm, ensuring rigorous financial oversight

Our budget for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 and we will take into account your previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer.
