Associate Process Engineer

Purpose:

To provide key technical design, implementation, and optimization of industrial/chemical processes with a specialized focus on continuous improvement within caramel color and natural color manufacturing. Capability to improve industrial and chemical processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Uphold DDW’s Mission Statement, Quality Policy, Values, and Beliefs
  • Develop, configure, and optimize industrial/chemical processes from inception to completion
  • Assess processes, take measurements, and interpret data (HMI, Cook Sheets, Batch Records, Virtual Boxes)
  • Design, run, test, and upgrade systems/processes
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
  • Troubleshoot plant issues through data-driven root cause analysis
  • 50/50 time in plant operations and office – will vary based on the task of the day. This position will be hands-on in operations and maintenance
  • Manage cost and time constraints
  • Assist and provide support to the maintenance department
  • Capability to start and finish a six sigma project in a manufacturing setting
  • Participate in MOC, New product production (Redsheet), Communication, and Safety Team Meetings. Prepare to present project updates to the operations team
  • Perform risk assessments
  • Create/Modify/Training of process documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of new analytical testing methods and procedures for caramel and natural colors to help keep the Technical Team aware of new advances with colorants to increase our technical superiority
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and operate by following and establishing company safe laboratory practices
  • Project status check-in with Plant Engineer/Plant Manager at defined intervals
  • Development path to become Plant Engineer

Physical Demands:

  • Must be physically capable of handling work in the plant (lifting, climbing, etc)
