Summary

Provide support and assistance to complete the risk underwriting process in accordance with established workflows, procedures and company protocol. Primary duties will include:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effectively communicates with agency partners, policyholders, loss payees, and mortgagees via telephone call and/or email by providing billing and basic coverage information.
  • Perform outbound calls as needed to agency partners.
  • Analyze small business commercial property risks to determine acceptability, pricing, coverage’s, terms, and conditions within company guidelines to prepare quotes and/or make a sound judgment on a risk.
  • Analyze supporting underwriting information for informed individual risk decision making.
  • Manage midterm transactions including simple to complex endorsements, cancellations, and non-renewals.
  • Review and/or Follow-up with agency partners on pending required documents.
  • Understand and execute the process of canceling, non-renewing and reinstating a policy.
  • Review and analyze underwriting production reports, loss reports, and business metrics.
  • Assist with Associate Underwriting I daily tasks when needed.
  • Provide input on ways to improve and/or optimize workflows.
  • Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient use of PC and Microsoft applications.
  • Proficient user of MS Excel
  • Professional business acumen required

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma with college degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience with personal or commercial property or an equivalent combination of education and experience desired. Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Visio experience a plus. Exhibits a desire to develop skills and advance. Math oriented.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to professionally execute excellent verbal and written communications. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

4-40 Customer Service Representative License (or) 2-20 Property & Casualty License or Excess and Surplus Lines License
