Overview

Gordon-Conwell is a multidenominational, protestant graduate school with over 1,300 students and 25 faculty and staff members, hailing from 78 denominations and over 50 countries. We offer a residential model of education at South Hamilton, MA (our main campus); an urban context in Boston, MA; adult educational models at our Charlotte, NC and Jacksonville, FL campuses; in addition to online and cohort models involving students from around the world.

Position Summary

The AV Technician is a valuable member of the Technology Services team. The role is responsible for installation, configuration, and maintenance of audiovisual (AV) systems and providing class, meeting, and event technical support services at the Charlotte campus. The ideal candidate has knowledge of AV systems and major events support and experience installing and configuring AV systems.

Key Responsibilities

User Support and Training

  • Responsible for providing high level, customer-focused technical support for classes, meetings, and events in campus venues including classrooms, meeting rooms, chapel, lecture hall and flex spaces.
  • Training faculty and staff on proper use of AV systems, emphasizing training in physical classroom spaces.
  • Training support staff and service providers on classroom and venue AV systems and support operations.
  • Partner with functional teams and support staff to train faculty, staff, and student workers on platforms used in education and content delivery, such as Panopto, Zoom, Zoom Rooms, and Teams.
  • Assist IT staff with user support and training.

Systems Support and Service Management

  • Provide and maintain AV solutions in all campus venues including classrooms, meeting rooms, chapel, lecture hall and flex spaces.
  • Routinely manage, document, and maintain accurate records of system configurations, equipment inventory, incidents and service requests.
  • Create and maintain relevant instructional and knowledge documentation.
  • Regular preventative maintenance and upgrades of AV systems and components.
  • Engage in design-build processes for AV projects and installations.
  • Oversee repair and installation service with vendors for outsourced AV.
  • Oversee use of AV production equipment and studio space.
  • Engage in production and post-production projects.
  • Assist IT staff with incident resolution, projects, and systems support.

  • Physical: Able to lift 40lbs and work from a ladder.

Education And Experience

  • Three years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting AV systems.
  • Associates degree or higher in a relevant program or equivalent training and experience.
  • Active industry credentials or certifications desired.
