Job Description

This position involves maintaining computers and servers related to television transmission and video automation systems, as well as business-side workstations. The candidate will be directly responsible for hands-on support of modern broadcast and IT equipment and implementing necessary processes and practices to maximize the daily operations of a sports network with a global footprint.

Responsibilities

Maintaining video and audio functions of Master Control and insuring the integrity of the network origination of up to twenty-four digital channels 24x7

Complete Shift Reports and “on-air” logs with the level of detail to communicate to Management and team members any outstanding issues or follow up needed

Maintain discrepancy reports and troubleshoot technical issues in Master Control and be able to have the composure to perform in an emergency on-air outage situation.

Recognize priority issues and elevate them to Supervisors, IT and Engineering staff

Generate and fill out reports in order to track progress and provide specific details to Supervisors in order to troubleshoot any technical issues

Perform all playback and monitoring functions for the origination of multiple 24x7 server based satellite broadcast channels

Analyze video through Vectorscopes and Waveform monitors and identify aspect ratios

Review, edit, monitor and confirm the on-going reliability of the automation play-list

Experience using and understanding various routers, broadcast automation systems, and video formats (NTSC and PAL)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Master Control or Broadcast environment.
  • College degree in TV and Films or Journalism is preferred, but not required.

Exceptional communication and follow up, both written and oral

Must be focused, diligent and detail-oriented

Must be a quick learner and willing to adapt to new technologies, new tasks and workflow procedures

Capable of taking direction from the Supervisor, Master Control. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with changing requirements and priorities

Be able to work both independently and in a team environment

Computer experience: using Outlook, Word, Excel, file folder structures, network drives, and Internet browsers

Technical proficiency and operational knowledge of all systems and hardware within network

environment; understanding of Fiber/Satellite operations

  • Must have ability to deploy staff in strategic manner to support high profile and live events.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends and holidays.

Direct knowledge of Ross: video switchers, cg, playout, and routers a plus.

Experience with production and post workflows including custom MAM, SAN, DAM workflows

Detailed understanding of IT networking and Systems, Firewalls, Fiber-Optics, MPEG, SAN and RAID based systems, TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, and Active Directory.

Experience with Windows and Linux computer operating systems, and computer networking

Understanding of broadcast television and streaming technologies from studio and post production to master control and distribution.

An ability to work on multiple tasks in a high pressure, 24/7 news environment.

Able to lift or move up to 50lbs.
