Career Pathways Coach Smyrna

Essential Functions

  • Provide coaching services to participants/job seekers in support of the program’s financial, mission, training, continuous quality improvement and marketing goals.
  • Ensure that highest quality, individualized services are delivered to program participants/job seekers with a focus on the mission of Goodwill of North Georgia.
  • Coach graduates on life skills, career advancement, transportation training, employment skills, and other related curricula.
  • Assist participant/job seekers to develop and maintain natural supports within the workplace and community.
  • Provide retention and follow-up support to graduates or participants referred specifically for intensive employment retention services.
  • Extensive travel to job sites and maintaining/developing relationships with our community partners and employers.
  • Maintain all documentation and records of program participants/job seekers.
  • Prepare reports and summaries required for applicable funding and regulatory sources.
  • Ensure the operational safety of all program participants, staff, and customers as well as protection of Goodwill resources.
  • Assist in coordinating referrals to supportive counseling and crisis intervention by utilizing community resources.
  • Observe and direct work of graduate/job seeker on a one-on-one basis to monitor/identify and promoted those work habits/behaviors/skills that enhance job retention and advancement.
  • Ensure protection and confidentiality of participant’s rights.
  • Prepare professional development plan (PDP) and engage in quarterly updates in achieving goals
  • Comply with Agency, Career Services, CARF, federal and grant regulations, policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Agency’s safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct and maintain records of annual curriculum review. Improve curriculum according to input from the industry, graduates, staff and current industry and training practices.
  • Meet with participants/job seekers in their workplace during their working hours for post employment job coaching (including nights and weekends as needed).
  • Maintain quality relationships with community partners
  • Participate in community and Goodwill meetings as needed or as assigned.
  • Attend majority of Career Services targeted training forum (TTF) sessions
  • Complete all Career Services required core training
  • Support the operations of the career center site
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements And Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, and
  • Two (2) years of documented experience as a Job Coach of persons with disabilities or closely related experience.
  • Higher education courses in a counseling and/or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of current industry trends and practices including competitive standards, for job performance, readiness, retention, and advancement.
  • Knowledge of training practices and methods including formal and/or on-the-job training, selection of materials, competency testing and curriculum design.
  • Strong working knowledge of job coaching; medical, psychological, social, and vocational aspects of disability and/or disadvantaging conditions; and community resources.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to facilitate positive actions and growth of participants in a flexible geographic work environment and working hours where self-direction, prioritizing and organizational skills are crucial to success.
  • Strong ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of organizations and individuals.
  • Must have access to and maintain reliable transportation and a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).

Working Environment Conditions/Requirements

  • The ability to push, pull and lift 20lbs. with or without accommodations.
  • Must be able to safely operate a vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements to perform all duties relating to Career Services including driving, material handling, transporting and carrying documents, handbooks and various supplies.
