We are currently partnered with a PE backed Financial Services Firm in NY that invests in Wealth Management & Fiduciary firms. They are looking to bring in a Chief Risk Officer who can help build out the company's Risk Framework, Risk Appetite, and Risk Strategy. This is a pivotal role as this person will be responsible for building out a best-in-class risk program from scratch and acting as a leader as the firm enters into this next level of growth!
This role requires not only a strong technical candidate but someone with the gravitas and ability to solve complex problems as well as develop strategy for growth. You will get to work alongside the COO who has worked at some of the best names on Wall Street and recently joined to help take them to the next level.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy aligned with the organization's objectives, policies, and regulations
Develop and implement a risk framework to manage risk within the organization
Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across all areas of the organization, including financial, operational, market, strategic, and regulatory risks
Establish processes for ongoing monitoring of risks, including key risk indicators (KRIs), and provide regular reports to senior management and the board of directors
Help foster a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organization by promoting awareness, training, and accountability at all levels.
Stay informed about emerging risks and industry trends that may impact the organization, and to continue to review and improves risk management practices
Partner with other senior executives, including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and General Counsel, to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
15+ years’ experience in risk management, ideally Wealth Management or Fiduciary expertise
Proven track record of developing and implementing a best-in-class risk framework and strategy
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent ability to influence and build executive level partnerships
In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
