THIS OPPORTUNITY

Collins is looking for a motivated, self-starter to join our North Charleston, South Carolina Team as a Civil Site Project Engineer. This role will provide the opportunity to work on various civil and transportation design projects, including site grading and drainage, land development, minor roadway, and utility design. The successful candidate will have a background in site civil design and be comfortable with AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The Civil Project Engineer performs higher-level assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard and moderate engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Has some responsibility for direction of Engineer and Engineering Technicians. Reports to a Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Responsibilities Of This Role

  • Prepare and design plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients. Contributes significantly to projects of all sizes.
  • Prepare hydrology, earthwork, and roadway plans and profile evaluations.
  • Assist in collecting due diligence information and preparing concept site engineering plans.
  • Contribute significantly to the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Prepare submittals to State, Municipal, and other agencies.
  • Apply judgment on design decisions and selects from standard engineering techniques and alternatives.
  • Make independent decisions within a general framework and work within agreed upon timelines and budgets.
  • Keep Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
  • Interact with other departments and offices in order to coordinate work.
  • Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion.
  • Has some communication with clients.
  • Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
