Contract Technology Transactions Paralegal

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a part-time technology transactions paralegal for engagement through the firm’s contract attorney and alternative staffing program, DWTSurge. This contract paralegal position will work with the firm’s Technology, Communications, Privacy & Security practice group to support technology and commercial transactions and intellectual property agreement matters. The selected paralegal may work remotely but should be prepared to support primarily West Coast business hours.

This contract position will support the firm’s attorneys and marquee clients with technology transaction matters, including but not limited to procurement matters. Primary responsibilities include drafting and reviewing letters, service orders, amendments, and other addenda, reviewing SOWs and other agreements for conformance, and creating template agreements from sample executed agreements.

Additionally, the selected paralegal will manage projects by tracking deadlines, summarizing agreements or data, providing due diligence reviews and conflicts checks, and creating and maintaining document storage sites. The selected paralegal will support attorneys and staff in managing client relationships through reporting, project management, and general administrative tasks. This role requires a high-level of commitment to excellent client service. Paralegals should be able to work independently and exercise good judgement, but should also collaborate easily with various stakeholders, other lawyers, and support staff to meet objectives within short deadlines.

This contract position offers the flexibility of part-time remote work. We anticipate the role will offer an average of 20 hours per week, however we cannot guarantee a minimum hours of work per week, and hours may fluctuate from week to week. The engagement is for an initial 12-month contract term. We anticipate the work to remain relatively steady and there is a high possibility of renewal of the contract position for successful candidates. We are looking for experienced paralegals interested in establishing a long-term working relationship with the Firm.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience at a mid-sized or large law firm and/or with large institutional clients.
  • Residency in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NY, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, and WDC.
  • Paralegals based in AK, CA, IL, NY, OR, VA WA, or WDC are strongly preferred.
  • A college degree and completion of a paralegal program of study, or clear demonstration of closely related or equivalent knowledge and skill, preferred.
  • A strong interest in working with global technology clients.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook) for the creation and editing of documents, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Proficiency in the use of computerized legal research and document retention databases for performance of legal research and effective management of case files.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technology quickly and use a wide array of technology products and programs.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, service focused environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with a calm and composed manner.
  • Strong time and task management skills by taking the initiative to manage multiple priorities, prioritize tasks, and complete projects independently.
  • Availability to work 20 hours a week for the duration of the contract.
  • Flexibility to potentially increase hours as needed.
  • Ability to work remotely.
  • High-level of responsiveness and client service abilities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.
