QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required;
  • Individual must have seven plus years of successful, demonstrated experience in Corporation and Foundation gift fundraising, preferably in higher education, or other comparable experience;
  • Must possess strong written, oral and presentation communication skills, and have experience in developing clear and concise gift proposals;
  • Must have a proven track record of cultivating and securing six-figure gifts and above, as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies;
  • Individual must be able to think strategically and creatively, possess excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments;
  • Attention to detail and strong project management skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge or similar database system;
  • Position requires occasional travel and occasional attendance at Institutional Advancement and Hunter College events in the evenings and at weekends.


CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Hunter College is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as its Corporation and Foundation Gift Director (CFGO). Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the selected candidate will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and securing significant six figure gifts to Hunter College as part of the Institutional Advancement team.


The CFGO will take a leadership role in the creation, planning and execution of institutional fundraising strategies for priority initiatives in alignment with our Strategic Plan. They will maximize opportunities for philanthropic revenue and prioritizing the identification of new donors. This Director will prepare grant proposals, steward and manage corporation and foundation relationships, and participate in relationship development. The Director must be able to enthusiastically and accurately represent Hunter College to a variety of Corporation and Foundation constituents.


Position responsibilities will include, but, are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Corporation and Foundation program, with an emphasis on securing grants while retaining and growing existing support.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward existing donors and prospects from Corporation and Foundation funding sources to fuel Hunter’s mission, vision and values;
  • Manage, grow and diversify a portfolio of Corporation and Foundation prospects and donors, whose giving range or capacity exceeds $100,000;
  • Develop briefings and materials for donor and/or prospect meetings;
  • Serve as an expert in philanthropic trends and best practices for Corporation and Foundation relations;
  • Regularly conduct validation meetings with Corporation and Foundation prospects who have not been previously visited to determine their giving potential and opportunities for engagement;
  • Recommend and implement short, intermediate and long-term cultivation and solicitation strategies for Corporation and Foundation prospects;
  • Identify and engage new prospects for purposes of meeting Institutional Advancement fundraising goals;
  • Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity to achieve individual performance measures (e.g. meetings, proposals, gift revenue);
  • Track and report relationship management activity using Raisers Edge including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, proposal submission and stewardship of prospective and current Corporation and Foundation donors;
  • Assist with review and verification of donor recognition lists;
  • Actively participate in the life of the team, learning and growing with colleagues;
  • Plan and implement events and activities for Corporation and Foundation donors, using existing activities as appropriate;
  • Engage in networking activities or other opportunities to generate potential prospects for cultivation.

COMPENSATION and benefits

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Range is $140,000 - $175,000.
