Director of Fundraising

Summary

Our client a large NYC based non-profit organization is looking to add a Director of Fundraising to their growing and thriving team. This is a direct hire, hybrid position (3 days per week onsite).

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing team members of the Individual Giving Team, including Major Gift Officers and Associate Director, Annual Giving
  • Crafting and supporting strategic plans for major gifts and annual giving programs, aligning with the organization's overall fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Offering leadership, guidance, and backing to the Major Gift Officers and Associate Director, Annual Giving, ensuring they are equipped with resources and direction to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Analyzing fundraising data to assess the effectiveness of major gift and annual giving strategies, monitoring progress towards goals, and identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Managing a portfolio of donors with contributions of $10,000 or more, and additional donors capable of contributing at lower levels, through moves management to achieve annual fundraising goals.
  • Building relationships with prospects/donors through personalized plans:
  • Initiating contact with major gift donors.
  • Strategizing on the level of gift and optimal approaches for making an ask.
  • Developing appropriate cultivation strategies for major gift donors.
  • Identifying key staff members for involvement in cultivation and subsequent solicitation.
  • Completing solicitations and all necessary follow-up and stewardship in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Coordinating an effective program for recognition, involvement, and stewardship of major donors.
  • Soliciting support through in-person and written communications.
  • Preparing all correspondence, reports, and records.
  • Assisting in the creation of the annual development plan, including annual revenue projections and realization assessments.
  • Researching new and existing donors.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Development, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Executive Officer on prospect research; identifying new giving opportunities; and developing proposals, briefing and gift reports, budgets, and related correspondence.
  • Coordinating and hosting site visits across target areas of New York City and Westchester.
  • Maintaining fundraising database records and tracking all donor activity in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Working in partnership with the entire Development team to achieve department goals.
  • Attending all fundraising and stewardship events, cultivating and stewarding donors.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with various program staff.
  • Performing other prospect and donor-related activities as the annual program evolves, as related to the role.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three to five years’ minimum experience in related positions, preferably as a donor-facing fundraiser.
  • Non-profit and development experience is required.
