Position Title: Director of Philanthropy

Reports to: Assistant Head of School for Institutional Advancement DOL Status: Full Time


Alcuin School in Dallas is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Philanthropy to lead our philanthropic and community engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Head of School for Institutional Advancement, the Director will oversee fundraising efforts and cultivate a robust culture of philanthropy, empowering Alcuin to prepare students for meaningful contributions to a global society.


As a proactive thought partner to the Associate Head, the Director will align advancement efforts with the school's strategic priorities. The Director will spearhead efforts to expand fundraising initiatives, champion the mission and vision of the school, and inspire community investments in Alcuin's future.


This highly visible position offers the opportunity to interact with the entire Alcuin community, develop meaningful relationships with donors, and partner with them to advance the institution through gifts both large and small. The role extends the school's impact, fosters goodwill in the community, strengthens the school's reputation, and advances relationships with all school constituencies. Alcuin School is committed to the professional growth of its staff and will support the Director in pursuing relevant certifications and attending key industry conferences.


Key Responsibilities


Fundraising Leadership and Management:

  • Execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including managing the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Capital Campaigns, Endowment Giving, Bequests, and Legacy Circle.
  • Create and implement a forward-thinking fundraising strategy that utilizes traditional and new methods, continuously seeking innovative approaches to maximize support and ensure the school's long-term financial success.
  • Oversee budgeting and progress tracking for all fundraising initiatives.


Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:

  • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, engage them in the school's vision, solicit their support, and manage all gift types while ensuring the fulfillment of pledges.


Community and Board Engagement:

  • Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and the Board of Directors to foster community involvement, support fundraising activities, and leverage networks.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy through initiatives demonstrating the importance of philanthropy and its impact on the school's mission and student experience.


Marketing and Communications:

  • Work with the Associate Head of School to create marketing materials, donor communications, and public relations campaigns to raise school awareness and engage the community.
  • Leverage data to create holistic communications campaigns that resonate with specific current and prospective donor segments.


Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Plan and execute events in collaboration with the Advancement team, ensuring effective communication and coordination.


Data Management and Analysis:

  • Utilize fundraising software and data analytics tools to track donor interactions, analyze trends, and inform decision-making.


Policies and Procedures:

  • Develop and implement policies for recording, acknowledging, and reminding of gifts and pledges.
  • Continuously evaluate internal and external activities to identify opportunities where automation and process improvements can enhance efficiency, improve communication, and generate time and cost savings.


Qualifications


The ideal candidate is a highly knowledgeable and experienced fundraiser with a passion and energy for advancing non-profits. While independent school experience is not required, the candidate must possess an unwavering commitment to the principles of philanthropy and community engagement. The Director will lead our fundraising efforts with creativity and inclusivity, ensuring that they reflect and support the diverse fabric of the Alcuin community.
