Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to provide comprehensive guidance, policy development, and compliance management across all facilities within our organization. This role involves both remote support and occasional on-site presence as needed.

Essential Job Functions

Create monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports covering compliance, energy, waste, and water metrics.

Act as a resource for plants, facilitating environmental best practices and waste reduction initiatives.

Assist in environmental permit application processes (air, water, waste).

Develop, implement, and update environmental programs and policies to ensure adherence to regulations (e.g., Storm Water Permits, SPCC Plans, Air Permitting).

Conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) Phase I and II reviews.

Manage EPCRA 312 Chemical Inventory reporting and annual submissions.

Support plants in achieving and maintaining ISO14001 certification.

Coordinate and support annual environmental compliance audits.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (EPA, DOT).

Conduct internal audits to verify company environmental policy compliance.

Drive energy, water, and waste reduction projects and report on KPI performance.

Support environmental management programs and audits as required.

Coordinate with contractors for permit applications and process performance testing.

Assist in engineering processes to meet environmental standards.

Provide environmental compliance and ISO14001 training.

Develop annual departmental business plans and special projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

ISO14001 / TS16949 Lead Auditor Certification preferred.

CSP or CHMM certification preferred.

4+ years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, preferably in manufacturing or automotive industries.

Experience with environmental permitting, including air permits.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Proficiency in MS Office suite and other relevant computer applications.

Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.

Work Environment

Office environment with moderate noise levels; occasional travel to plant locations.

Standard automotive plant environment may require PPE.

Up to 40% travel required, including international travel.

Physical Demands

Ability to walk, sit, stand, and lift up to 33 pounds.

Must be capable of effective communication and mobility during job duties.
