Job Description
Role involves working in plastic high tunnels and field crops commonly grown in North Carolina. Duties include field evaluation of experimental compounds.
Preparation and set up of experiments (including equipment, plants, and insects), evaluation of trials, and site maintenance.
Work will be under the supervision of biologists and Farm Manager.
Additional responsibilities will include: weighing chemicals, mixing solutions, making dilutions, applying experimental pesticides of unknown toxicity, entering data into Excel accurately, and general housekeeping.
Duties Such As
hoeing, pruning, weeding, and harvesting would be required on a daily to weekly basis.
Likewise, maintenance of facilities, equipment, and tools to ensure operational readiness, and cleanliness is required; as well as conducting insect and plant disease/damage surveys.
Candidate will adhere to SOPs and safety protocols provided by staff.
The ability to operate farm machinery (tractors and mowers) would be a plus. Occasional weekend work may be required.
