Position Summary

The Head of Commercial Services is a high-impact leadership position reporting directly to the CEO of a rapidly growing and expanding company. In this role you will be responsible for leading the commercial services business. As a new initiative for IQ Fiber, you will initially define the strategy and author the go to market plan for this business. You will be directly responsible for the sales and revenue plan, and for assuring the company is maximizing its capital investment.

Additionally, you will work closely with the companies’ functional leaders in the areas of construction, engineering, operations, and marketing who will all be supporting you. This is a high impact position because the addressable market along the existing fiber network is significant but requires a focused and disciplined approach to determine how the company can win early while championing a vision for long-term growth.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Leader for the strategy and execution of the company’s commercial business
  • Assess the competitive environment across all segments (business, government, education, carrier etc.) to prioritize where we can win early
  • Champion the go to market plan including sales, marketing, product development, back-office, engineering, and construction
  • Determine the most effective sales channels by segment including on-line, direct, wholesale, and partner
  • Build and own the overall revenue plan
  • Build-out a direct sales organization including hiring, training, quota setting, compensation plan design, and on-going performance management
  • Devise and manage an internal capital approval process to assure the business is maximizing returns
  • Work closely with the senior team and other functional leaders to assure you are gaining their support and alignment in the areas or marketing, technology, engineering, construction, and finance

Required Qualifications

  • Experience leading commercial businesses in the telecommunications services space
  • The ability to analyze addressable market data and asses the competitive environment to assure a focused winning approach
  • A comprehensive sales leadership background that includes hiring, training, quota setting, budgeting/forecasting, and compensation plan design across multiple verticals such as business, government, carrier, wholesale, and education
  • Experience assessing the competitive environment, customer needs, and company capabilities to champion a product roadmap
  • The ability to collaborate with experienced functional leaders to gain their partnership and mindshare to support the commercial segment
  • Experience managing profit and loss statements, creating revenue budgets and forecasts, and a general understanding of maximizing return on capital investments

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • 5+ years of telecommunications experience in a sales leadership role
  • College degree required (MBA preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of strategic decision-making
  • P&L management and strong financial acumen skills
  • Ability to cultivate and manage strong relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite
