Job Summary

Huhtamaki is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Retail Sales to lead and develop our retail sales team in alignment with our 2030 Strategy. This role is directly responsible for our retail disposable tableware business, supplying Chinet branded and private label tableware to retailers across grocery, mass, club, dollar, drug, and e-commerce channels. The product range includes molded fiber, plastic, and paperboard technologies.

Essential Functions

  • Strategic Development and Execution:
    • Develop and execute customer and product plans to meet our 2030 Strategy goals in areas such as Digitalization, Sustainability, Innovation, Talent Development, Competitiveness, Growth Objectives, and Profitability.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and nurture relationships with senior management at key retail customers.
  • Sales Team Leadership:
    • Coordinate market coverage, customer management, and overall performance of the retail sales team.
    • Assist the sales team in implementing and achieving Chinet branded and private label business objectives.
  • Communication and Training:
    • Facilitate communication of retail business unit strategies to the Commercial Excellence Lead, sales team, and brokers.
    • Develop training protocols with the Commercial Excellence Lead for new sales managers to enhance selling skills.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with product management, category management, data providers, and agency partners to execute marketing tactics, research, and analytics.
    • Work with product management and retail business unit controller to create action plans for improving contribution margins.
  • Budget and Analysis:
    • Manage and optimize the trade spend budget.
    • Analyze market conditions, competitive situations, industry updates, and sales tracking to identify growth opportunities and advise senior management.
  • Broker Management:
    • Oversee selection, management, and direction of brokers to ensure balance and alignment within the Huhtamaki broker agency network.
Required

Job Qualifications:

  • Direct involvement in strategic/business planning processes.
  • Sales/Marketing experience with a proven ability to grow and develop new business.
  • Physical effort and dexterity.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing.

Environment

  • Work primarily in an office setting with controlled climate conditions.
  • Travel required up to 50%.
  • Hybrid work schedule available.
