Housing Coordinator

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Contract Director and Director of Operations, provide housing supports for ACCS participants. The Housing Coordinator is an active member of the Integrated Team. Work closely with other staff to coordinate housing access for homeless participants, to ensure retention of stable housing, and to facilitate the transition to permanent independent housing in the context of treatment plans. Provide housing expertise for the teams and maintain knowledge of local affordable housing opportunities, tenant screening process, the reasonable accommodation process, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist participants with obtaining housing. This includes completing and tracking of housing applications for participants, as well as other housing-related paperwork.
  • Assist participants with securing rental subsidies through affordable housing programs, including Mass Rental Voucher Program (MRVP), Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP), HUD Housing Choice Voucher Program (Sec. 8), and local housing authority programs
  • Assist participants with navigating the tenant selection/screening process, which may include assessing and correcting housing barriers such as CORI, credit and previous housing court involvement.
  • Assist participants with obtaining necessary documentation for any subsidies, ServiceNet housing, and other housing. This includes annual recertification paperwork for all.
  • Help to orient participants to the neighborhood and community, including transportation resources.
  • In collaboration with the team, support participants in maintaining their apartments, keeping them free of health and safety issues. Assist with conflict resolution/mediation with housemates and family members. Assist with mediating routine landlord/neighbor conflicts. Provide education and support for participants to meet terms of the lease and subsidy requirements.
  • Attend and participate in supervision, team meetings and other scheduled trainings and meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • BA in related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with people in mental health recovery required.
  • Prior work with housing preferred.
  • Experience with de-escalation techniques preferred.
  • Ability to be a good role model for people in the areas of conflict resolution and community relations required.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle and MVR on file.
  • Competencies in computer skills.
