New Tech Network (NTN) is a national nonprofit dedicated to systemic and equitable change in education. We center NTN schools as the units of change, and teachers and school leaders as the agents of that change. Partnering with districts and working closely with leadership teams makes change scalable and sustainable. After twenty years of change making, we have learned what works and can adapt quickly. New Tech Network schools — now over 200 strong — are committed to college and career ready outcomes, supportive and inclusive culture, meaningful and equitable instruction, and purposeful assessment. The student experience is tied directly to deeper learning outcomes. Students gain skills and use their voices in ways that prepare them for life beyond school. Project-based learning in NTN schools allows students to engage with material in creative, culturally relevant ways, experience it in context, and share their learning with peers.

New Tech Network's People Experience Manager ("PEM") is responsible for developing equitable people practices and programs, empowering people managers, supporting team effectiveness and engagement, and being a cultural steward. This position will be part of the People Team and collaborate closely with NTN leadership in order to ensure this work remains central to our organization's vision, mission, and strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience with and a passion for developing equitable practices. LOCATION: Remote, up to 20% travel

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial & Operations Officer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

People Operations (50%)

  • Develop, analyze, and continuously improve the New Tech Network people experience
  • Collaboratively build thoughtful, scalable HR programs and policies to support NTN's mission, vision and community guiding principles while emphasizing continuous improvement and high performance that build an equitable and inclusive workplace.
  • Ensure exceptional customer experience by responding timely and accurately to questions, and provides guidance, assess risk, resolves issues, and brings issues to the attention of the Leadership Team as appropriate
  • Provide HR support to our teams as it relates to policies and procedures, workers compensation, compliance, employee transitions, and other HR-related topics.
  • Support the optimization of staff experiences primarily within general employee support.

Performance & Rewards Management (15%)

  • Develop materials that are reflective of NTN's needs and values for performance management
  • Manage the timing and launch of performance management process
  • Support employees and managers in real time performance concerns and improvement process as needed
  • Monitor and follow up with staff and management on performance goals and concerns as needed
  • Implement recognition strategies for the team and org

Recruitment (15%)

  • Foster the recruitment process in close collaboration with hiring teams across the organization
  • Develop and sustain a thoughtful, caring, and inviting candidate experience
  • Serve as the system owner for Greenhouse, New Tech's applicant tracking system
  • Complete reference checks, background screening and develop offer letters
  • Support procurement, hiring, and onboarding of contract and temporary staff (i.e. facilitators)

HR Administration Support (20%)

  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding process including appropriate documentation for changes in employment, employee changes, etc.
  • Facilitate the completion of benefits enrollment and annual compliance requirements for all staff and new hires as needed
  • Commitment to confidentiality as it relates to personnel records, organizational information, and other confidential information to ensure security from unauthorized access or unauthorized use
  • Supervise the maintenance of department records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality
  • Answers questions and advises Department Heads & Supervisors regarding recruitment efforts, benefits, and personnel matters including interpreting personnel policies and regulations
  • Conducts regular HR internal audits
  • Manage workers compensation injuries, work comp notices for each state
  • Compliance for OSHA, benefits, labor laws, harassment prevention training
  • Coordinate various projects/tasks across the PCE team including: All Hands (all staff gathering), benefits review, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of professional HR generalist experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to leverage non-dominant populations and their strengths and assets, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
  • Excellent computer skills – must be proficient in Google Docs, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Salesforce a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly accurate along with strong organizational skills
  • Adaptability and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to pitch in and show self-initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and follow through, with the ability to build long-term relationships and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages and backgrounds.
  • A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional.
  • Comfort and familiarity working in a virtual work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a commitment and action to diversity, equity, and community
  • Formal learning (i.e., bachelors degree, masters, SHRM, etc.) in human resources

Must be able to collaborate effectively with others on a regular basis. Those people include, but are not limited to, employees of all levels within the organization, community, district leaders and teachers, and members of other organizations, customers, vendors and visitors.

This position has access to sensitive and confidential information, and is trusted to maintain this information, files and documents properly. These documents include, but are not limited to, financial information, grant information, client proprietary information and other business related material. Failure to safeguard this information could result in loss of trust and reputation internally and externally.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Low physical effort required to sit, stand at files, bend, stoop, lift, and walk. Maximum unassisted lift = 35lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard, monitor, and calculator. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone.

WHAT WE OFFER

New Tech Network offers competitive compensation. The starting salary range for this position is $84,000 with a final offer based on the candidate's professional experience and internal equity. In addition to base salary, our competitive compensation includes:
