Teach For America is a bold and diverse movement of changemakers who confront educational inequity by teaching for at least two years and then working with unwavering commitment in every sector of society to create a nation free from this injustice.
Together with partners throughout the educational ecosystem, our network of over 62,000 alumni and corps members are achieving the impossible, empowering lives, and helping shape the political, economic, and social future of our country.
Congratulations to Teach For America alum Bryan Butcher (New York Corps, ‘12) on being named Oregon’s Teacher of the Year! 🎉 Bryan’s unwavering commitment is evident in his dedication to ensuring all students have the support they need to thrive in math and as leaders. Thank you, Bryan, for all you’ve done and will continue to do to empower students.

Our Philly friends are building on the literacy lessons of yesteryear to teach today’s children to read and do better in school.
By creating inclusive learning environments, they’re helping young scholars fall in love with learning *and* themselves.

I had a great time celebrating the incredible achievements of Aneesh Sohoni last night, winner of the prestigious 2024 Peter Jennings Award for Civic Leadership! I am proud to call Aneesh a friend, mentor, and partner in breaking down barriers to an excellent education and creating pathways for every student. I am inspired by his dedication to being a part of the coalition transforming community college opportunities at One Million Degrees and his leadership in shaping a brighter future for thousands of students in Chicago and beyond. Aneesh reminded us all of the power of community and that doing hard things requires having the right people around you. None of us get to where we are alone just as change will not happen with one organization or one leader. We need each other.
Thank you for your impact and the leadership you display in how you do the work. Congrats Aneesh!

35 years ago, Teach For America was born with a vision that one day all children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. Over the past 3 ½ decades, TFA has been growing and evolving, finding, developing, and supporting leaders to transform education and expand opportunity by working together inside and outside the classroom.
Our teacher corps continues to grow, placing exceptional leaders in high-need classrooms across the country, driving impact, and building strong relationships with students and families.
As our world has grown more complex, we have risen to the challenge through our Ignite Fellowship, which brings young tutoring fellows and leaders into schools, fostering connections and accelerating learning.
Together, we’re building a future of endless possibilities—for ourselves, for our future, and for every child.
Join us. For Today. For Tomorrow. For One Day.

Building an education system that uplifts both students and educators requires collaboration, commitment, and a shared vision for the future. 🌟 We're proud to see Teach For America alums leading the charge at the StriveTogether#CradleToCareer Convening, driving meaningful change and empowering communities. #OneDay
Yesterday was an incredible start to the StriveTogether#CradleToCareer Network Convening. I was honored to sit on a panel with fellow Teach For America alum Kriste Dragon, CEO of the Pahara Institute, teacher Bri Slaughter, and student Gavin Florisbello to discuss how we can build an education system that supports both students and educators. I left our conversation feeling energized and inspired by the power of collective impact and partnership.
I was also thrilled to connect with fellow Teach For America alums like Amara Sillah and Adjoa Ofosu-Ameyaw, MPH, as well as many dedicated people in this work like Rob Watson, Executive Director of The EdRedesign Lab and Lisandra Gonzales, CEO of Rocky Mountain Partnership, all committed to building a brighter future for our communities. #ConveneC2C
Meet Katie Lee (Arkansas ’13), a talented muralist who found her passion for creativity through teaching. Her journey as an educator helped shape her approach to art, where she now creates impactful murals for schools and communities. Her current goal is ambitious (how very TFA of her): she plans to paint a mural in each of the 50 states 🎨✨
When sharing how her experience as a corps member influenced her art career, she says, “The corps experience gave me confidence that I carry to this day and sparked friendships that are still going strong 10+ years later. I now have the privilege of going into various public, private, and charter schools to add to their spaces – I'm able to create impactful works of art for them because of my time as an educator.”
Katie’s advice to any budding artist or teacher: Don't be afraid to start small and enjoy the journey. Art, like life, is a process. Keep expressing, keep creating, and never stop learning. 💫 #TeachForAmerica#ArtTeacherLife#CreativeJourney
Horses have always been a big part of David Silver’s (Detroit ’12) life. After teaching fourth and fifth grades at Detroit’s Burns Elementary school, Silver is now sharing his equine passion with others through Detroit Horse Power, a nonprofit he started to connect Detroit youth ages 11-18 with horses to build skills that extend beyond the classroom.
“I would not be doing this work today if it weren't for Teach For America,” David said. “I had never even been to Michigan before my TFA placement in Detroit in 2012…As a result, I ended up starting Detroit Horse Power so that kids like my students could have access to the deep and life-changing opportunities that horses can provide.”
David says he believes the organization can help instill PERCS skills — Perseverance, Empathy, Responsible risk-taking, Confidence and Self-control — in kids and contribute to the reimagining of Detroit in the 21st century.
“What binds [our community] is the shared commitment to Detroit’s young people and the idea that horses can build important skills and strengthen our city’s future.”
Teach For America’s biennial National Principal Survey, conducted by Westat, highlights consistently high satisfaction among principals with TFA corps members. The 2024 results align with findings from recent years, underscoring the positive impact of our educators. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3ZzMTet
