Job Description

The Lead Order Manager supervises the BlueScope Construction order management group in their tasks of entering and scheduling orders, coordinating buyout materials and material shipments, and establishing and entering the final pricing of material. The Manager helps execute these tasks as needed by project backlog. They provide support and leadership to the group to facilitate efficient order management and supply of material to the field. The Lead Order Manager also ensures functional, efficient best practices and communication exist between BSC order management and the Brands including design/detailing, manufacturing, shipping, and field tasks while providing top quality customer service to internal and external end users.

The Lead Order Managers duties include:

  • Supervise and review work of Order Management team. Direct, mentor, train and prepare staff for career development.
  • Liaise between team and Brands for; design/detailing, plant, shipping, and field for best practices, shortages, master manifests, freight to installation techniques, and customer service for end users.
  • Coordinate final pricing for project material, engineering, freight, buy outs, etc. and prepare cost of material spreadsheet.
  • Coordinate the order management team process for deliveries including material shipments with trucking companies, international shipments of parts orders, purchase orders to suppliers, and shipping schedules.
  • Compare quote vs actual ratio on weight and engineering hours at key milestones.
  • Participate in project kickoff with design, detailing, and order content (contract scope matches solution preventing scope creep) and attend project meetings.
  • Assist in the management of the BBNA placeholder process for BSC as required.


The Lead Order Manager must possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Competent in Order Management System applications
  • Thorough product, document and process knowledge
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Good negotiating skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with builders
  • Organizational agility
  • Proactive approach to managing projects and takes ownership of his/her projects
  • Sound risk management practices
  • Competence with Microsoft Office products
  • Able to read and interpret Architectural/Structural drawings and specifications
  • Able to effectively manage projects to provide projections for shipped tons, dollars and margin
  • Able to effectively manage key milestones
  • Able to effectively manage Change Orders
  • Competent in problem solving
  • Competent in conflict resolution


Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Associate or 2-year technical degree
  • 5 years of relevant work experience


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) experience
