Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a Maintenance & Reliability Manager to work on-site at a chemical manufacturing site in Newark, NJ. This facility is involved in the development and manufacturing of various scents and flavors used in consumer products, such as perfumes, personal care items, household goods, and food and beverages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises, provides leadership and ensures technical development of all maintenance technicians in the manufacturing area according to technical innovations, plant or personal needs.
  • Guarantee and foster compliance with QHSE policies for all maintenance personnel. Establish safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health prevention during maintenance activities. Contribute to plant cleanliness.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting of process equipment systems comprised of pumps, agitator, heat exchangers, tanks, reactors, piping systems, valves, and other mechanical systems as well as instrumentation and process control systems, as needed.
  • Implement and oversee predictive maintenance technologies to improve reliability and reduce mechanical downtime including but not limited to vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis and non-destructive testing.
  • Ensure that best lubrication practices are applied throughout the factory
  • Ensures implementation of weekly work plan into Maintenance schedule with required PM tasks and corrective measures as noted by vibration and/or thermography testing, assign resources and ensure Client is properly utilized.
  • Monitor daily equipment repair needs, ensure proper application of Client and priorities, ensure resolution of all mechanical problems in the factory
  • Prepare and follow up the annual Maintenance Budget Maintenance system integrity and compliance
  • Provides technical oversight of all assets in the factory to ensure highest performance and reliability at Best-in-Class costs
  • Lead, support Reliability Engineer during root cause analysis investigation to identify improper application of equipment, inappropriate methods of equipment operation or inadequate or improper maintenance practices.
  • Implement and maintain TPM and training components of PSM Mechanical Integrity for local authorities’ compliance
  • Oversee maintenance training program utilizing onsite OEM training, offsite seminars, and technical program, document all training accomplishments. Develop training videos and create database for links to CMMS asset database
  • Provide input into the selection of new equipment that will result in improved maintainability & reliability and increased operating effectiveness.
  • Manage MRO inventory to ensure critical spares, right size and costs
  • Manage outside constructors and vendors working as mechanics.
  • Provide timely monthly reports to identify maintenance KPI benchmarks and implement programs for improvement where needed
  • Ensure that maintenance work performed on all field mechanical equipment including plant safety systems and plant power systems are documented
  • Communicate and implement regulations, company goals, local permits, policies, and procedures; maintain up-to-date technical documentation; optimize the internal processes and structures. Supervise personnel to apply them consistently and ensure ISO compliance for related activities
  • Conduct performance reviews for Maintenance Department
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and at least 10 years mechanical, electrical and instrumentation experience in chemical, food, pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Experience with asset health maintenance of rotating equipment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical procedures
  • Ability to read and understand governmental regulations and company policy and procedures
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel software and CMMS systems. Knowledge of SAP a plus

Preferred Qualificaitons:

  • Certification in one Reliability Maintenance discipline: CMRP, CRE, Thermography, Oil Analysis, Vibration Analysis

Work Environment:

  • The work area is congested with processing equipment. Follow safety requirements as directed in the SOP’s, this includes dust masks or full- or half-face cartridge respirators as well as heat- / chemical-resistant gloves, aprons, and/or boots, face shields/goggles.
  • Physical work environment requires working outdoors during inclement weather, in and around production equipment at high levels and in confined spaces.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
