We ♥ our teachers every day! On #WorldTeachersDay, we celebrate all teachers around the globe, and in #NewYork, and thank them for what they do and for inspiring the next generation of #STEM & #cleanenergy leaders! We'd especially like to recognize Tiffany Piatkowski, an instructor of the P-TECH program at Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, for being the recipient of Alliance to Save Energy's Guiding Star Award, which honors educators that instill the knowledge of #energy efficiency and their impact on students. #FunFact: OHM BOCES is one of our foundational Pathways in Technology Early College High School partners. We've also had 12 summer interns from OHM since 2021. Check out our teacher resources: https://lnkd.in/dh7sebJV

NYPA is the nation's largest state power organization, serving government, not-for-profit, and business customers.
About us
The New York Power Authority is the nation's largest state public power organization, with 16 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission lines. More than 70 percent of the electricity we produce is clean renewable hydropower. NYPA is a leader in promoting energy efficiency, new energy technologies and electric transportation initiatives. Our lower-cost power production and electricity purchases support hundreds of thousands of jobs throughout the state. Our business customers range from Fortune 100 giants competing in international markets to small manufacturing or service firms that are vital to local economies. We sell power to government agencies; to community-owned electric systems and rural electric cooperatives; to job-producing companies; to private utilities for resale—without profit—to their customers; and to neighboring states, under federal requirements. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time. The transition to #cleanenergy is essential. With our expanded authority, we'll explore new #renewable generation and help accelerate NYPA's and #NY's energy goals. Read our 2023 Integrated Report for more: https://lnkd.in/eG4ZnVfr

#ClimateWeek may be over, but the conversation still continues! As we're now in #NationalDriveElectricWeek, transportation accounts for a large percentage of #NewYorkState's greenhouse gas emissions. Our multi-pronged approach is helping make the transition to EVs a reality. Working with the NYS Department of Transportation, we’re leveraging up to $15.83M in National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) funds from the Federal Highway Administration to install #EVolveNY charging stations in more than 20 locations around the state, with most of the sites targeted to be open in 2024 and 2025. NYPA has also led the installation of charging systems for the state’s largest electrified bus depot in Buffalo and is building fast chargers for the MTA to help electrify the nation’s largest public bus fleet. #ClimateWeekNYC #NDEW2024 #NDEW24
