As the Managing Director of Finance, you will be a pivotal member of the executive leadership team, driving our company's growth, vision, and scalability. Your leadership will be vital in expanding our footprint across MSAs (Metropolitan Statistical Areas), transitioning our funds into RIAs (Registered Investment Advisor), developing our securitization capabilities, and spearheading other strategic initiatives.


You will oversee all financial aspects of the company, ensuring the integrity of financial information and providing strategic financial guidance. This role demands a highly experienced professional with a strong background in finance and accounting within the lending industry. You will be instrumental in creating scalable processes and driving the company’s ambitious growth initiatives.


Your responsibilities will include managing loan-level accounting, overseeing our income statement and balance sheet, preparing and managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, leading annual audits, and ensuring our funds are audit-ready. Building and leading a high-performing finance team will be critical to achieving these objectives.

Close collaboration with the CEO and other senior leaders is essential to align financial strategies with the company’s overall objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in finance and accounting within the lending industry, demonstrating the ability to execute on a strategic vision as well as build and lead a team while implementing scalable processes and drive growth.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead the development and execution of innovative financial strategies that drive the company's growth and profitability. Leverage financial insights to shape the company's long-term vision, focusing on expanding our footprint across MSAs, transitioning funds into RIAs, and developing securitization capabilities.
  • Executive Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to align financial strategies with the company's overall mission and strategic objectives. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support high-impact decision-making and ensure financial goals are met.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive threats. Develop strategies to capitalize on market opportunities and mitigate risks, positioning the company as a leader in the industry.
  • Growth and Scalability Initiatives: Spearhead strategic initiatives that drive growth and scalability, such as geographic expansion, new product development, and enhancing capital markets activities. Develop and implement financial models to evaluate the potential impact of these initiatives and ensure their successful execution.
  • Performance Metrics and KPIs: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and progress toward strategic goals. Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization of financial operations.
  • Risk Management and Mitigation: Identify and assess financial risks, developing robust risk management frameworks to mitigate potential impacts. Ensure the company's financial stability and resilience in the face of market volatility and economic challenges.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate the company's financial strategy and performance to key stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and shareholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and stakeholders to support the company's strategic objectives.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and loan-level accounting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage the preparation for and execution of financial audits.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including quarterly and annual financials, for the CEO, leadership, and shareholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, supporting strategic initiatives like customer acquisition cost management and unit cost analysis.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning and decision-making, focusing on growth planning and execution.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Lead the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors to ensure timely completion and audit readiness.
  • Ensure all financial records are audit-ready and comply with relevant regulations and standards, with a particular focus on being ready for USAP Attestation by Q1 2025.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.

Process Improvement and Scalability:

  • Develop and implement scalable financial processes and systems to support the company's ambitious growth and strategic initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial operations for efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy and operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO, COO, and other leaders to ensure financial processes support company-wide goals.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning and resource allocation.

Cash Management and Capital Markets:

  • Collaborate with capital markets teams to manage cash flow, including stress testing and ensuring sufficient liquidity.
  • Monitor the loan pipeline, forecasting cash needs and availability to support growth and financial stability.
  • Develop strategies to scale capital markets activities, ensuring adherence to financial covenant obligations.
  • Implement and maintain cash management systems to optimize cash flow and liquidity.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and projects.

Collaboration with Leadership:

  • Partner with the CEO, COO, and other senior leaders to drive the company's financial and strategic goals.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to company-wide decision-making.
  • Ensure alignment between financial strategies and company objectives, supporting the overall vision and scalability of the company.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA or MBA highly preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in advanced financial principles and leadership skills.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role within the lending or financial services industry.
  • Proven track record of driving financial strategy and growth in a high-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with a demonstrated ability to provide strategic insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance specific to the lending industry.
  • Expertise in managing financial audits and working effectively with external auditors.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
  • Experience in developing and implementing scalable financial processes and systems.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex financial challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
