Materials Planner - Food Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Planning and Inventory Management:

  • Develop and maintain an inventory plan based on sales forecasts, production schedules, and historical usage
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and ingredients to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent production delays
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies

Procurement Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to place orders for raw materials promptly
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective procurement of materials
  • Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts and pricing agreements

Production Scheduling:

  • Work with the production team to create and adjust production schedules based on material availability
  • Ensure that all materials are delivered to the production floor in the correct quantities and at the appropriate times
  • Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or production capacity

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, orders, and deliveries using the company’s ERP or MRP system. - Generate reports on inventory status, order fulfillment, and production efficiency
  • Analyze data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement. Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning processes and reduce costs
  • Implement best practices for inventory management and procurement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and improve overall supply chain efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in materials planning, inventory management, or procurement, preferably in the food manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP)
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP)

Working Conditions:

  • Office and production floor environments
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites or other company facilities
