MRI Technologist
Day Shift - Rotating, Every 4th weekend
8:00am-8:00pm

General Summary:
Perform a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures. Schedules examinations in accordance with MRI protocols and procedures. Maintains a smooth operational and productive workflow.

- Clinical Practice/Patient Care - Operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging technical equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures according to the Diagnostic Imaging Department’s P&P manual.
- Demonstrates clinical competence in Musculoskeletal, Neurology and Body.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge in computers and information processing, computer applications, image capture, display and storage. Demonstrates the ability to fix studies in the private area in collaboration with IDXRAD.
- Responds to patient care emergencies. Understands and demonstrates MR and patient safety.
- Demonstrates continuing education in MRI to maintain certification and licensure.
- Documents QA activities appropriately.
- Selects protocols as appropriate.
- Provides patient safety and protection in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies, accreditation agencies and health care organizations.
- Leadership - Oversees and coordinates the daily work activities of MRI scanner in accordance to MRI standard practices.
- Participates in the scheduling of work with support personnel on their assigned shift.
- Reviews requests for radiology procedures with the assistance of the radiologists or Radiographer 3/Supervisor when necessary.
- Participates in departmental initiatives and efforts to improve workflows and patient satisfaction.
- Unit Management
- Notifies Chief Tech/Team Leader of requests for protocol changes.
- Communicates with clinicians regarding patient preparation for procedures.
- Complies with established departmental and UMMS standards and
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Radiologic Technology OR MRI from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI within 1 year of hire date OR registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene through the Board of Physicians.
- CPR certification is required.
- 3 Years of experience working in MRI.
