Organometallic Chemist

About The Role

This role is on our Organometallics team of chemists that synthesize over 400 of the company's products. In this role, you will be synthesizing compounds to fulfil customer's requirements both in compound identity and purity specification. You will also be assisting in the development of new organometallic compounds to add to the ever-growing catalog. This position reports to the Director of Organometallics.

Responsibilities

Synthesize organometallic compounds from 1 gram to multi-kilo scale

Source and maintain inventory supply of raw materials

Research and develop/scale-up of new organometallic products

Maintain laboratory notebook

Troubleshoot syntheses/compounds that fail to meet specification

Correspond frequently with Customers, other Production teams, Sales team, Analytical team, Engineering, and Maintenance

Set synthetic/equipment schedules for chemists and operators

Cross-over as needed with the Inorganic Production group for R&D projects

Potential for production management role in 1-2 years

Position Requirements

PhD in Organometallic Chemistry or related synthetic chemistry PhD degree (Organic/Inorganic)

Familiarity with various synthetic and air-free techniques

Familiarity with various analytical techniques (Elemental analysis, IR, NMR, GC, etc.)

Strong communication and presentation skills

Team-player that functions well in a fast-paced environment

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs preferred, but not required
