Project Coordinator


The research team is establishing a National Research Consortium to support an existing research portfolio and to expand research opportunities in dementia genetics research. A Research Coordinator is needed to facilitate the activities of one of the consortium’s research projects that focuses on the collection of neuroimaging and dementia genetics data for Veterans to be used in multi-site collaborations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the liaison between collaborating sites.
  • In collaboration with local study PI, develops budgets, statements of work, deliverables, and timelines as described.
  • Collaborates with study team and BVARI staff, establishes and follows processes for trial administrative management.
  • Collaborates with internal center staff, IRB, monitoring/auditing teams, and other key players.
  • Responsible for creation of IRB applications: initial submission, continuing review submissions, and protocol amendments.
  • Coordinates study meetings (planning meetings, kickoff/annual meetings, Data Monitoring Committee meetings, internal meetings, conference calls with study team). Writes meeting minutes for study meetings and conference calls. Sets and follows up on meeting actions.
  • Provides direction to site personnel and research assistant(s).
  • Ensures all study documentation is received from sites and filed appropriately in a central location.
  • Follows center standard operating procedures.
  • Guarantees effective communication between operational teams.


Qualifications

  • BA/BS with 2+ years of years of research project coordination experience, or a MA/MS degree in a science field with relevant experience as outlined below.
  • Familiarity with databases and software including, electronic data capture, reporting, data workflow, alerts, and Microsoft Office. Ability to learn new software.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and a mastery of research infrastructure, critical problem solving, analytics, and juggling the coordination of multiple projects.
  • Experience training personnel, creating study documents, and designing online trainings; ideally your experience is in study design, institutional review board, eligibility criteria, study protocol, study operations manuals, and user guides.
  • Ability to operate 100% confidentially and ensure compliance with study protocols, and Health Research Protection Program (HRPP) rules, policies, and procedures. You can effectively solve compliance issues.
  • Be organized and communicative and able to problem-solve when encountering roadblocks.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee must be a resident of Massachusetts upon start date.


Selected Service

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

An employee in this position must complete all appropriate background checks at the time of hire and periodic reappointment.
