Project Engineer - Dirtmarket

The Project Engineer at DirtMarket reviews existing project data to determine soil export disposal options,proposes and takes additional soil samples, seeks approval of export soil at landfill and clean project fill sites, and oversees trucking and disposal of soil for our clients.

Project Engineer Job Duties Include:

  • Generates proposals, purchase orders, and draft contracts for further review
  • Reviews all Invoices to Clients and All Costs (Timberline and Non-Timberline) in DirtMarket AP and Client Invoice Spreadsheet for CTC
  • Reviews his or her projects in the CTC and revises as necessary – discussing Gain and Fade with the Operations Manager
  • Review billing projections for her or her projects
  • Reviewing existing background data, including Geotechnical reports, Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments, Existing Analytical Data,Sample Maps,construction drawings, and cut/fill drawings
  • Reviewing analytical data for various Environmental Screening Levels
  • Reviewing geotechnical soil property requirements
  • Proposing sample plans for the purpose of soil export approval
  • Communicating proposed sample plans and test method requirements to DirtMarket Technicians or clients
  • Coordinating in-field changes to sample plans with DirtMarket Technicians or clients
  • Corresponding with the lab for unique sample results, low RL / MDLs, and any interference issues
  • Proposing follow-up test methods and additional tests for targeted landfill or clean fill site
  • Submitting soil approval packages to landfills and clean fill sites
  • Submitting contaminated soil profiles as needed for Class 2, RCRA and Non-RCRA Hazardous contamination
  • Corresponding with approvers and follow-up with packages to achieve export soil approvals
  • Confirming contamination removal in the field and documenting for dumpsite reviewers
  • Works with Operations Manager and the Technician to confirm that soil export from an approved site is coming from approved locations within the site
  • Works with the Technician to find, propose, and approval haul routes and staging areas with clients
  • Works with Technician to manage manifests, and soil acceptance forms to insure client has dumpsite/landfill approval documents as needed for the haul
  • Training the Technician on all aspects of his or her job
  • Works with Project Technician and the Operations Manager to carry out SWPPP Inspections and reporting with the assistance and oversight of the QSP
  • Works with Project Technician and the Operations Manager to take any required SWPPP storm/non-storm water grab samples required with assistance and oversight of the QSP
  • Writes all Ad-hoc reports and Annual Reports for the waterboard

Project Engineer Background and Education:

The ideal candidate would have the following skills and background

  • Have good math skills
  • Have some construction background
  • Be able to read and understand construction drawings
  • Have good writing skills
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, and Bluebeam
  • Be very detail oriented in review of analytical data
  • Have some knowledge of Soil Properties
